View Full Version : Kawhi Emotionless

Kawhi is a good rebounder for his size and frame.
No emotions to show though.
Those missed free throws were taken like a regular season game. That could have won the game.
Need to learn from the likes of Pippen and Kobe, else this kid will be a wasted talent.

layoff, hes 21 and was thrown into a big spot. Most sophmores dont have big roles in a game 6 of the NBA Finals.

he clearly beats lebron on "the youngest to reach the finals" department.

He has had a great series. I don't blame him for the loss.

Kawhi is one of the main reasons the Spurs are still playing basketball this season, tbh. Cut the kid some slack.

Yeah lets blame the 21 year old kid that makes 1 mil this year and protect the 35 year old veteran making 14 mil.

Leonard deserves none of the blame. he was great.

Tbh, the good thing is I don't think that loss will be in Leonards head in game 7.

I think you're confusing emotions with his competitive spirit. Guys who hate to lose rarely show emotions, and only show emotion when they win.

Yeah, let's blame the kid that gave us a chance to win it. Yes he missed a free throw but so what? They had a 3 pt lead to protect and and they let it slip away

Those missed free throws were taken like a regular season game.
Here's a hint: guys who shoot free throws differently at huge moments than they do during more normal situations? Those guys are much more likely to miss. You want guys to go out there, follow their usual routine, and shoot like they're playing Minnesota in January.

It didn't go in. It happens sometimes.

Kawhi has been the most consistently good Spurs player throughout this run.

AND HE'S ONLY 21!!!!

Bird barely showed any emotion

And he was one of the most competitive mofos ever

Kawhi is our future. He's been unbelievable. He gets a pass.

Actually, keeping emotions under control is more important, and more difficult.

A Spurs player who let disappointment show would have probably invited merciless taunting by Heat fans, and maybe played even more poorly in OT.

This is beyond dumb, game would've been long over if Kawhi didn't play at all. I like the way he rolls, he's an athlete with integrity, don't see that tin the NBA much anymore. Besides, Kawhi did what he could, if Diaw wasn't a retard and knocked the ball out of Kawhi's hands after LeBron's missed three with 23 seconds left, we win the game.

leonard missed a clutch free throw. manu missed a clutch free throw. difference is leonard played a spectacular f'n game

This is honestly by far the worst take of the playoffs on Spurstalk. The crippling flaws of this statement are so obvious that I don't even need to point it out.

Congratulations on the terrible take.

Stupid thread for two reasons:

1. Why do we want players who express their emotion? I don't know why you bring up MJ because he was the ultimate assassin who never expressed any emotion except contempt for those he beat. I'm happy that Kawhi is so emotionally balanced that he takes something like this in his stride.

2. We're not even in that game without Kawhi - he was absolutely superb.

I am a SDSU season ticket holder and alum. Kawhi has never been a great FT shooter, although he strangely is usually better in the clutch.

The pressure in that situation was immense and frankly I was glad he at least made 1. I thought it was a bad move by Pop for him to be the one who ended up with the ball, you want those taken by Parker or Green I would think.

I got to agree with OP. I'm not knocking his performance or saying he shouldn't have followed his routine but he could have taken a little more time to gather himself. There's a reason players usually miss their first free throw and then hit the second. They're usually not focused and concentrated enough on that first free throw. In a TWolves game in January it might not matter but in game 6 of the Finals it does matter.

True... he'd be better off learning from Ginobili. fiery competitor with the play to back it up to be honest.

He was looking good not giving a fuck most of the game..

Kawhi does have emotions but for now they're bottled up. One of these days they're going to erupt like Mount Vesuvius.

He's a huge reason the Spurs are in the Finals. I'll take a missed FT for that any day. Dude was great in that game.

This Loss is not to Blame on him. Before Leonard missed his FT remember Manu also missed one that would have sealed it also, so lets not blame this kid. He Played better than everyone else except timmy Last Night. He should have been the one taking the shots in overtime instead of Parker.

I think Kawhi comes out and plays the game of his life, given his extra motivation. That and he is the youngest starter on either team. The Heat may be younger, but they are not YOUNG. Lebron carrying the team for 50 minutes has to take some toll. I hope Kawhi makes him chase his 21 year old ass the entire game.

This.

And not showing emotion is not the same to being emotionless.
