On June 19, 2005, Robert Horry played the best game of his life and I became a member of Spurstalk. Pre ST, I spent years scouring the web for NBA articles and doing frustrating shit like reading through comment sections over and over in nervous anticipation of the games, particularly during the 05 playoffs.

Then, on that most nerve racking Spurs gameday to date, I found ST through a simple Google search for spurs commentary... and duncan228 among many others made sure I had all my Spurs and NBA news forever onward. Nary a day has passed that I havent visited here and I doubt it changes anytime soon.

I dont have much else to say except that day was the luckiest day, Spurs wise, in my lifelong fanhood; so should Horry's miraculous performance have left any winning luck caught in stasis and under my control from that magnificent day, I pray it now is channeled directly to a Spur (hopefully Manu) in Miami.

GO SPURS GO!

Glad you found the way, z0sa... I use to frequent SR before here, for quite a few years... moving to Spurstalk was like upgrading from a SNES to a PS3, tbh...

This is a dumb question as I am new to these forums but what is the difference between SR and ST?

One is loosely moderated and as a result more popular

great story, and i've also gotten into the habit of checking this site daily, usually for hours per day.

this prompted me to look back on when i registered, and it was an uneventful regular season day after a game against the Cavs :lol

IMO, the general lack of censorship make this place great... granted, certain areas can be a cesspool sometimes, but in general Kori and LJ run a tight ship and the flip side is that you can speak your mind without some uptight mod shutting you down...

Due to that, you find all sorts of posts and posters here... from different teams, different backgrounds, serious posters, trolls, funny posters, etc... varied crowd, all speaking their minds.

There's also some well connected posters. Sometimes you'll get some guy breaking some news about a trade and what not.

Then you have timvp post-game commentary and grades during the season, which always span some debate. It's hard work he puts on those, after every game.

Add and the fact that Kori and LJ keep it interesting with things like that $1000 competition, gift cards, vbookie, etc...

All that said, bring a thick skin, tbh... :lol

You too man. Spurs familia forever, brother.

Thankfully, I completely avoided the medieval version of ST. SR smack is (was?) a running joke I always felt lucky not understanding first hand.

Yeah, i went through all kinds of initiation :lol

I remember i once got all poetic and mad at lefty because i didn't know about his jinx shtick, and thought he was legitimately rooting against us all the time
I was also shocked to say the least when i saw what goes on downstairs and made myself look like a fool for trying to be all noble early on

I never looked back, tbh... that was a great story... let's hope our Spurs find the way too...

This place definitely addicts. Besides being Spurs and NBA news and fan central, the mix of solid and not so solid predictions, emotional outbursts, cliffjumping, trolls, personal feuding and great ownership makes for a one of a kind community. Like Nono says, ya gotta be thick skinned but usually it is all in good fun... usually. :lol

The Spurs did win that Cavs game, FWIW... beating Receding Hairline's old team must be worth something

Game 7 of the Finals against a worthy foe after a dramatic Game 6...this is what sports is about, this is what they fought for all season and playoffs, and the teams are healthy enough that there can be no excuses.

Spurs pound the rock 48 more minutes and I believe they take this thing right in front of an emptying stadium.... only there wont be any comebacks, on the court or off, this time around.
