View Full Version : How are you approaching tonight's game?
As a long time die hard fan and someone who is emotionally exhausted and can barely stand watching these games, I was absolutely demoralized after game 6. I really had felt like that was the game to win. I seem to crawl into a hole and avoid sports all together as opposed to starting "we're done" threads...That is how I heal. But it doesn't matter how I feel, all that matters is what our team's mentality is going into game 7. I need a few more hours to recover (someone slap me), but I bet our team is hungry and ready to take this thing tonight.
I'll let the Spurs worry about the game strategy. I'm worrying about my approach to tonight's legacy clinching game... So I'm wondering how you guys are approaching tonight's game as a fan?
Where will you be watching?
Watching alone? with friends?
Do you record most of the game and try to catch up in the 4th?
What do you wear?
Do you throw things at the TV?
Do you have a lucky jersey you wear?
Ect...

Well, I cant watch it under normal circumstances due to my knee, but Ill be making it as easy as possible. Ill be wearing my Kawhi jersey since that has been the "luckiest" of mine for the post-season...

Pessimistic yet hopeful, even if that sound contradictory.

I like the "easy as possible" approach. I might have to limit the amount of time I'm stressing out by at least recording the first quarter and catching up around the end of halftime...

I hope the Heat don't blow the Spurs out.
I hope Spurs blowout Heat, or they win a close game :lol

Honestly guys, I'm thinking about busting out my Mullin jersey for this game. Every home game I have worn it to, we win. And yes I realize this is an AWAY game, for all you smart-asses out there...I believe in this team :lobt:

Watching with some friends of whom at least one is a Spurs fan (it's not like there are that many in germany).
Right now I'm rather pessimistic, preparing next day as if I will be in Zombi mode.
If Heat blow us out, I will go early, maybe joining you on the board to easen the pain....If they win, I will jump into the local river then see where it gets me.

I think I might have a couple of friends over to help calm me down. One roots for the spurs (jazz fan). And one is a bandwagon fan (miami). You guys pray I don't kill him tonight. They will help me get through those long commercials with casual conversation. I'll be recording the first quarter to reduce the total time of stress down a little. My mental approach will be "enjoy the highest level of basketball, and wait and see". I'll be wearing a personalized full authentic spurs uniform. I'm going to try to keep my emotions in check through out. Even if we have a big lead, I won't be happy until the clock is zero and we have the lead.

Extremely nervous.... I'm anxious to see the first 4-5 minutes to see what kind of energy & efficiency they come out with early on. I didn't give them much of a shot just being at this game, but after reading on here a little and seeing others peoples confidence levels, I feel a little better. I felt like after game 6, I don't think i'll feel any worse than I did that night even if they lose tonight. Now, I'm just hoping they go out there and shock the world. I hope it's on some Game 6 in 2003 against the Lakers, but I know that's asking for a lot

I will be watching alone live on the big-screen TV. If we win, I will be so happy. If we lose, I may not make it through the night.
(Okay, I am joking about that last part, but I'll be so damn pissed).
I'll be wearing my regular Spurs shirt, tbh. I won't throw things at the TV.

I was trying not to think about it until tonight. I messed that up by coming on here to check out everyone's opinion after another night of sleep. Straight up, I'm going to be loud and obnoxious tonight. I'm going to yell at my TV like a drill sergeant. I have mixed feelings about the game but I'm going to keep saying we have a 50% chance. I hope the team makes history tonight.

Watching at home at 3 am, will have some of the things that could be destroyed just for a case besides me, but I believe that there will be no need to destroy them, tbh.
I just don't know if I should wear my Spurs shirt or not... I haven't worn it yet during the playoffs, and since I'm very superstitious, I don't know what to do now :lol Any suggestions? :lol

Spurs exceeded my expectations three weeks ago. I hope they win the championship, but this is not a legacy game as far as I am concerned. Tim, Manu, TP and Pop will all be in the hall of fame. This would just be a great FU to all the people that called them old. Especially beating the unbeatable Heat.
This game matters a lot more to KL, Green, Splitter, Diaw and Neal as these are young guys (Not Diaw) that might not ever get another chance to win the ring. They need to show the approprate hunger knowing that.

All I can say is I remember when All the Spurs fan were riding high after the game 5 victory against Piston. They come back and dismantle the Spurs in game 6.
In game 7, it was tied after 3 quarters and the Pistons went on that run early and were up by 9 with 7 minutes to go and their D was stifling (and yes Miami D doesn't even compare to the Pistons D of '05). Duncan comes out scoring and passing like man possessed and the Spurs finish the game on a 16 point swing.
I remember alot of people write the Spurs off when they went down by 9. The Spurs want this one. And the Spurs have bounce back with a WIN after every loss thus far. I see the Spurs winning this in dramatic fashion.

Four years ago, a dear friend of mine gave me a Tony Parker autographed hat he received from a minority owner of the Spurs to whom he was introduced. It has never been worn.
It will be worn tonight as I hope to see Tony score 28 and dish out 12 dimes as we win 98-91.

I have to work during the game, which will be broadcast at my job. I'll be a nervous wreck the entire game and the post game will either make it impossible to focus or impossible to avoid vomiting.
I believe in these Spurs, I really do. But I also maintain my voice of reason, knowing that history does not favor fthem in this situation.

TBPH, I think the Spurs lost the 2013 Championship in Game 6. I'll watch Game 7 and hope against hope that I'm wrong. But even the most mentally tough teams do not get up from that type of haymaker.
Call it pessimism or whatever you want, but I consider myself a realist and the Spurs winning tonight would be one of the most improbable upsets ever in sports history.

Watching alone? with friends? Alone. I had 3 buddies ask to come over tonight and I told them I needed to watch this alone.
Do you record most of the game and try to catch up in the 4th? None, I have to be in real time.
What do you wear? My Kawhi shirt.
Do you throw things at the TV? No, but I bounce around the damn room like a maniac. At times I struggle to breathe. I yell and scream. At times I feel like my heart cannot possibly take the stress of another timeout before the game ends.
