Tonight's the night. For all the marbles and on the biggest stage. The whole world of basketball will be watching as the team of the past meets the team of the present. Team ball versus hero ball. Superstars versus system. Hype versus humility.
The San Antonio Spurs versus the Miami Heat.
Some fans will be nervous, others excited awaiting the moment of tip-off, the moment the clock runs out, and the moment the Larry O'Brien trophy is hoisted up by the victors. Yet others won't watch due to fear or some emotion or even superstition, and hope not to be on the losing end.
But really what is there to be afraid of. Regardless of outcome wasn't this a special season for our San Antonio Spurs. Who really expected us to win the championship? Better yet who would have taken a Game 7 of the Finals to win it all if asked at the beginning of the season?
Remember Parker's game winning field goal against the Thunder on the second game of the season?

Or Danny Green's shot over the Lakers...

Kawhi Leonard in Cleveland...

And we all can't forget Manu's 3 over Golden State.

Yes it's easy to forget all of that with a game like game 6, and to freak out. It's natural. Ways to cope and ways to shield against potential hurt, but for a moment let's forget about all that and take this game for what it is.
Game 7 of the NBA FINALS. It's been a heck of a ride. Let's have fun tonight not because we don't have a chance but because it's the last game of the season and life goes on. Sure we want that fifth ring but let go. Tonight it's about playing Spurs ball for 48 minutes and leaving it all out there.
I know as fans there isn't much if anything in our control but if there is one team that is capable of winning a game 7 on the road it's our Spurs and if not than hey, we still have 4 CHIPS. It's been a great run.
One more night for the season of 2012/2013. One more night to watch Spurs ball. One more night to watch beautiful basketball and see the great Tim, Tony, Manu, and Pop put it all on the line. To walk to that rock and pound it and pound it until they "pound the stuffing out of it."
