View Full Version : Who was primarily responsible for tonight's loss?

Boomersgold

Which player deserves to be blamed for tonight's game 7 loss to the Heat? Which player robbed Duncan of his fifth championship ring?

dg7md
06-20-2013, 10:56 PM
Duncan missing his 5 footer to tie to the game.

Manu turnover when we needed a quick 3.

Truthfully, nobody is really to blame. They all did their best.

Green was sloppy and we could have used Diaw more, but Pop used his 5 best players in the heat of the moment. Can't argue with that.

It's Manu's fault b/c w/o him we don't even play tonight. Obviously the team put everything into game 6 and Manu screwed that up. Tonight Tony was a shell, and while solid Timmy wasn't as awesome as he was then .

Parker was spent. He had nothing physically. Green and of course, Manu making his costly turnovers at ...just....the ....wrong....time. If there ever is a right time but those last two, three really, were just horrendous. No one was moving around. They just watched whoever had the ball. Zero ball movement.

TheGreatYacht
06-20-2013, 11:04 PM
I voted someone else. Heat were just skyrocketing in confidence. Everyone stepped up and hit their shots. LBJ had a Jordan performance. Too much to overcome for the Spurs. They went out like champs. Not enough. I'm happy for Manu that he gets to walk out with a decent game before he retires; the time is NOW. Khawi Leonard and TD deserved a ring. Game 6 will haunt us Spurs fans for the rest of our life.

06-20-2013, 11:06 PM
Look. Parker was playing injured, but even besides that Spurs were a better basketball team, but played against younger stars in Lebron and Wade. Had Manu and Duncan been 5 years younger, this wouldn't have even been a game...but age has really finally caught up with the Spurs. The sad thing is that the media will gloat and glorify Lebron when it took every ounce of in his prime Lebron to beat an end of career Duncan.

why is parker not on the list? manu had 18 points but imagine if he had a better (better, not great, even being a decent player) series, spurs would have gotten the title.

regarding pop, he made mistakes but coaching can take a team only up to a certain point, the players still are the ones playing and will decide the game.

True. This Spurs series loss was a TEAM effort all the way to the coach. Ginobili will shoulder plenty of blame for sure but he shouldn't have been put in that position to do so much in the first place. Parker just never showed up for some reason. He's supposed to be SA's best player. Whether it was injury related or not he didn't seem to play with any urgency tonight. Green was clearly not ready for that game and got worse as it went on. Why he was still in the game I don't know. Popovich seemed to have too much faith in the guy. Where the hell was Diaw?
