What you guys think? Could we make it this far next year?

edit: Was this our last chance?

We might be a contender next year if Manu faggot Ginobili retires.

Spurs franchise won't make the finals again in San Antonio.

No, I see no reason why we can't comeback and do the same next year. I don't see any other team getting much better in the West and OKC with just westbrook and durant shouldn't be a problem considering we just took the heat to 7

lose manu, lowball splitter and get some real American ballers on the team, Jarret Jack and David West come to mind. Tough hard nosed rough house guys. Those type of players affect the Heat and the Thunder.

We need to make some big changes. No more Neal, Ginobili, or Splitter. We need to get a big man who can rebound, build up Baynes, and replace Ginobili. I don't know what to think about Tony Parker right now.

probably yes. Unless we make some super friend team. :rollin

With this team, yes. Tim deserve one last chance with better teammates. Rid of Neal, Manu, Splitter, bring in someone with cojones.

Manu's time has come I believe. I'm not trying to jump the gun, but he just doesn't have that same magic anymore...

Yes. No way the Spurs franchise goes further than the second round in the next 30 years.

I believe so. I don't see anyone in the west making huge leaps. There is OKC who will be tough & possibly GS depending on how they mature. It will be difficult, but I think it is a definite possibility. I don't see Duncan falling too far off, TP will be fine, the continued growth of Kawhi, some roster improvements & imo we have a shot.

We can definitely get back.

We will need to get a more reliable swingman and a big, but I guarantee we can own the league again because it sucks aside from a handful of teams.

I am absolutely convinced there are only 3 teams that can win the title. Miami, OKC (with a healthy Westbrook) and us.

By the way, the Heat players were pretty gracious. But it sucks that we let Battier be a hero. I hate that guy.

Where is the team moving?

super friend teams don't happen in small markets....this may be the last time we see the Spurs in the finals, ever. I fear the NBA has finally done what they set out to do (make large market teams more successful)....the league needs to be careful what they wish for.

yes

but im excited as f following kawhi leonards growth

- manu maybe retires, kawhi takes more of a load offensively, but theyre not getting back to the finals/winning a championship any time soon

They need to make a significant move or two. Otherwise I believe this is the last chance.

Not at all. Kawhi will be better. That's already enough to get back in it. If Danny learns how to make a layup then we already have a better chance than we did this year.

Last chance at getting to the finals? Maybe. Thunder getting rid of Harden helps. Lakers aren't a factor. If Dwight goes to Houston, maybe they'll be a threat. Yeah there are some good teams in our conference, but I honestly think we're still the best in the West.

Expecting an intelligent response in this forum is retarded. Technically my answer is correct, if they did move, there would be less fat mexicans in the city.

As I said in the "Spurs will be back thread", when your three best (or, three of your four best) players are at the stage theirs are, it's always doubtful, but barring a significant step forward from the Thunder, they should enter next season as, at the very least, co-favorites.

Two things they should have going for them if they get back next year . . .

1) I doubt the Heat make it back. They were running on their fumes fumes to finish this off and I don't see them having the energy nor the motivation to push themselves to the limit next season. Even if they do, George is only going to get better and if they add 2 solid bench players, they should have enough to beat them.

2) Given that, they'll probably have home court.

Really depends if Duncan sticks around and how effective he'll be if he does. I'm not sure which way the divorce cuts with Duncan. On one hand, I could see it keeping him in the game since he might want a distraction and has no wife to keep happy. On the other hand, divorce makes it tougher to spend time with the kids and I'm guessing that's a priority for him.

I think Tim's done, tbh.

If Duncan's gone, the team needs to be drastically rebuilt around Kawhi. If Tim goes, it probably would not be a bad time to deal Parker. Put a team together of young, hard-nosed, hard-working, smart players to counter the youth movements in OKC and Clippers (as currently constituted).
