Woj:

There is a sense around here that the Clippers are trying to create an illusion for Chris Paul that this is something they very much wanted to do, but the league stopped them, Boston was being unreasonable and stopped them, we're sorry, we tried but we can't get it done. Right now, Sterling doesn't have to pay $35 million. He doesn't want to pay half of that for a coach.

...

Chris Paul wants to stay in LA. His marketing, his stature in the league has all changed going from New Orleans to LA. Obviously on a better team, winning more,...He's not looking to leave. Dwight Howard is truly torn about whether he wants to stay or go elsewhere. Paul isn't but this has been...he's pushed hard for this, very hard. Last week, his people were very involved in this, trying to close this. What Paul is trying to figure out is how much was Boston, how much was LA, why isn't this done? Clippers are telling him, "Hey, we tried. The league got in our way. Boston is being unreasonable." Chris is trying to figure out those answers with FA looming on July 1. This is a risky game for LA to be playing.

Paul is a loser.
Howard is a loser.

Unfortunately in 2013 this is the cream of the crop. We reap what we sow. And we have all sown this. We had this coming.

Thing is, though, if that were the case, they had the perfect out with Stern vetoing the deal.... they could have just ended it there and blamed it all on Stern, but they didn't, tbh.... the fact that they're apparently STILL trying to negotiate the deal kind of blows up that theory, tbh....

Keep in mind that Woj has only been reporting Boston's side of the story, btw..... this could very well be more posturing from Ainge to get the 2014 1st-rounder he wants.... and also, Boston is being unreasonable.... how Ainge can expect a serious offer from the same team he's essentially telling Woj to bash mercilessly is beyond me, tbh....

Same old cheapskate Donald Sterling, the man that refused to pay for an assistant coaches cancer surgery and a slumlord.

And he didn't even know his GM Elgin Baylor was an accomplished basketball player. :lol

"Los Angeles Clippers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=lac) owner Donald Sterling said during Elgin Baylor's wrongful termination civil trial Tuesday that he didn't know the accomplished basketball pedigree of his former general manager before hiring Baylor as vice president of player personnel in 1986, according to a Los Angeles Times report. In response to a line of questions concerning Baylor's Hall of Fame playing career from Baylor attorney Carl Douglas, Sterling denied any knowledge of it, according to the Times report."

Clippers will live in Laker's shadow for life long imho, even during a time when they can finish above the lakers on the table (like 06 and this season). Pretty much like Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid in Madrid, the latter could win EURO cup but would remain the beta team in Madrid. Lakers just have such a long and glorious history that can't be surpassed by any team in the means of a few years, or even decades.
