serious though, doesn't that elevate Tim Duncan to top 5 status, considering he's never had a reliable second option. We basically surround him with a PG with extreme tunnel vision and a Argentinian who plays likes he's on coke, even at age 35.

I'm still agitated at Manu, but the '05 Finals gets him off the list. So does the '04 Olympics.

My all-time choke team:

Chris Webber
Leon Durham
Greg Norman

i haven't seen brown bunny, been meaning to, but I like Gallo. I own a CD of his too, pretty good. I even enjoy his political views, but he's one of those people you can only handle in small doses.

as for Manu on this list, it's sort of like the Bill Buckner situation. Very good and decorated player, but what a way to fuck it all up. Buckner was never the champion like Manu, but his mistake was like one key moment. Manu's was something that was building and building until it erupted like diarrhea in game 6. then in game 7 he got it under control, until firing off a few more squirts at the end.

When I first saw it, I thought it might've been a case of Tim Brown having a case of sour grapes, but then when Jerry Rice corroborated his testimonial, I believed.

I don't think it was Callahan's intention to hand "his friend" Jon Gruden a ring and spite the Raiders, but a case of him being an idiot. I'm no football expert like most on the forum, but even I knew it was a retarded idea to throw 60 times against one of the greatest pass defenses ever, against the coach who built the offense and mentored Rich Gannon.

Calvin Shiraldi lost that game a lot more than Buckner did, tbh. The game was already tied when Buckner committed the error.

Actually, Buckner shouldn't have been in there in the first place. Normally Dave Stapleton replaced Buckner for defensive purposes in those situations, but John MacNamara left him in so he could celebrate the WS victory on the field.

Sure. Just saying he was known as a fumbler well before The Fumble.

See to me "choking" is performing differently than you normally would because of the pressure of the moment. In Byner's case I don't think he fumbled because of the pressure of the moment- he fumbled because he didn't take good care of the football as a general rule. If anything Byner elevated his game in clutch situations.

I'm nitpicking, I know.

What about Himmler?
Himmler was never given the control of an army group of anything that could've made one a choker, he basically had nothing to choke, just a dick licker of the Fuhrer who didn't know more about military or policis than a 8th grader did. The title of "chocker" better suits those generals who dithered over military actions during the sieges of Stalingrad and Leningrad, while letting the chances pass by and freezing their own soldiers to death.

Paulus might be the worst of them all. He nearly obliterated that city with bombers & canons which destroyed all buildings and roads and turned the whole shit into an urban warfare the Germans had no business of winning. When he was under siege by Soviet troops after the failed attempt to occupy Stalingrad, Manstein came to his rescue and created him a chance for breakout, but he remained inactive like a pussy and finally had to surrender to the red army. Idiots like Paulus, and the lack of good ones like Manstein were one of the main reasons why Germans lost the war imho.

This. Love the guy to death and some of my best sports memories are with him under center for the Colts, but dude is the undisputed king of "one and done" in sports. The fact that his one Super Bowl ring was essentially a gift from his defense just puts salt in the wound. He was pretty clutch in the 2nd half of the AFC Championship against the Pats that year, but you don't rally from 18 down without excellent defense, plus Manning was directly responsible for 7 of those 18 points. At this point it's been six years since that game and I'm convinced anybody beats Rex Grossman in rainy Miami that day.

Wouldn't it be counter-intuitive to put players on your choke list who actually has rings? How about putting players that have no rings instead?
