He'd probably bring Patty over to the Nuggets to be their back up point guard if he's selected. Great news for Patty!

Losing your two main assistant coaches in one offseason is somewhat unsettling. Unless Udoka is ready to step up his responsibilities you would think that Pop will bring in someone more experienced as a replacement. Two candidates with obvious connections to the organisation would be Avery Johnson and PJ Carlesimo. Oberto coming over also looks a lot more likely to happen now.

Great news for the Spurs also if this comes true.More free cap space.

At that rate, Spurs will end up with the Coyote as top assistant soon.

don't want PJ. would be moving backwards. was actually a big fan of Brown, and that was my one silver lining of Bud leaving. damn.

Patrick Ewing's son has been complaining about his dad not getting a HC job despite putting in the work
he should just come here as an assistant tbh
only took Vaughn like 1 year to find a HC somewhere else after becoming an assistant

Good luck to him!

That said, it's not great that there is this much upheaval. Wouldn't be shocked if Avery Johnson or PJ Carleisimo (sp) got brought back so there's at least some familiarity.

Which also means you are hopping off the bandwagon. Great news.

I've been cheering hard for the Spurs and contributing to these forums throughout the entire playoffs, even with Patty not getting any minutes at all. There's nothing wrong with having a favorite player. Not sure why you show this much hostility towards me, man. A bit unwarranted, I'd say.

Plus, I've been a Spurs fan for the last 4-5 years. I didn't just "jump" on when Patty joined.

Just messing with you, tbh. Thought it would be fitting since we've had these arguments before in the past. :lol

Further proof the league is run by idiots... Teams keep hiring assistants from an incompetent coach... or so I hear...

I agree, I think Brett will walk. The Nugget roster has some quality. You'd be happy to walk in there and not have to start a rebuild. 76's can still build around the big guy if that jobs offered to Brett but that's a work in progress.

Since we already lost coach Budd, and now Brett Brown possibly leaving, I think it's time to give a call to Avery Johnson and PJ Carlesimo. That would be an awesome coaching staff for Pop.

ElNono

IIRC, PJ was already with the team during practice sessions in the playoffs... even though he wasn't officially a member of the staff...

Can't say I'm surprised. Shaw deserved a HC gig.

Let's see what happens with the Philly job.

props to Shaw. he's more than paid his dues.

as for Brett, now that Nuggets is gone, curious if he would want to go to Philly. shit, that's a tough call.

hopefully Spurs bring back PJ. Not a huge fan of Avery but he would bring some fire.

Coaching. Tree.

Now that Mike Bud is gone, a former NBA HC with the familiarity of a Carlisemo or AJ might not be a bad idea as the top assistant. I think Pop could use someone like that to challenge his bullshit from time to time (note: I love Pop, but he, like everyone else, has his own private stash of bullshit and sometimes it helps to be called out on it.)

Biernutz

They might take Brown because as a first time NBA head coach he will be cheap. I hope he stays with the spurs but if he leaves PJ is my guy.
