He must really love this team considering the fact that he's not even getting playing with the spurs.

Surprising decision if you ask me.

weird but I love it....we now should at least get rid of neal, so mills can get his irrational confidence guy spot.

Paul Garcia PS @24writer
(http://twitter.com/24writer)That leaves Boris Diaw as the other player who has a player option. Diaw has until June 30th to let the team know if he's opting out or not.

Logical move. Mills wouldn't have make that much money in the FA market.

What is noteworthy, is that he did it before the draft, which will allow Spurs to trade him during it. Mills and Spurs have maybe come to the conclusion that the best for him would be to take that money and be traded to a team where he would get more playing time.

And I would be happy to see him staying with Spurs. He can play and has a great attitude which is a very underrated quality in the NBA.

I love Patty and love having him on the Spurs. But to be honest I'd much rather see him go elsewhere and have a bigger role than being limited by being 3rd or 4th PG on the Sputs.

He needs to find the nearest seat, and sit down. That shit is mad annoying.

Hopefully they don't trade him, particularly if they don't re-sign Neal. He's an ideal 12th man: Good enough to play, but okay with not playing. His attitude and energy are valuable to have during the grind of a long season, especially for a team that plans on playing until June every season.

Not surprised at all. He seems to really like being on the team.

I do feel though, that he may be traded. Wouldn't mind seeing him stay, though he was disappointing last season.

this move signals no neal

and it is before the draft and they could be trying to trade him to get dallas 13 pick....

024
06-24-2013, 02:57 PM
I actually did not expect that. He's already at the bottom of the guard rotation. Him and Nando are competing for last place. Corry Joseph should be ready to take the back up minutes and Nando is there for insurance. I would think he would want to go to another team with more playing time. He certainly has the talent, he just needs the playing time.

With that said, I'm glad he came back, I would have missed his towel waving.

Didn't Dallas trade that pick to the Pelicans?

Patty is more a team player than anything.

Nando, if he had the option, would bail. Just says a lot about Patty's work ethic. Now if he can replicate that Olympic performance again, the Spurs have a really good player. :lol

Why on earth would Dallas trade a first-round pick for a guy who can't get off the bench?

clear capspace to go after Howard/CP3

I'm happy for him, he looks like a nice guy.

The fifth string PG, behind Parker, Manu (as per finals), Joseph and DeColo,
is coming back.
To do what exactly, I am not sure.

I'm happy for Patty. I think he is the type of player every team wants to have, I'd say he contributes a lot to good team chemistry.
Hopefully he'll play a bigger role next season, he's proven on the Olympics that he could be much more than a towel-waver. He just needs to find somebody to do it for him when he is on the floor :spin

Best news I've heard since the Finals. Love the everything he brings to the team, both on and off the court. Kind of sucks he has been buried on the bench and if he were traded to a team where he could get more PT i would be all for it. Either way great guy, earned his contract on towel waving alone last season.

Patty is living the ultimate fan experience.

Actually, he's a little expensive for a 3rd/4th string point guard, but I don't mind him coming back.

happy we got something settled quick. huge fan of the guy and i'm sure Boomersgold is elated. i'd like to keep him but if Spurs can send him somewhere for more playing time, possibly with Brett Brown, while we make some smart moves, then I'm for it.

Glad to hear. Not a big cap hit and can make for a useful little trade throw in. If not, talented guy & great teammate. Only way this could be a negative is if the Spurs fall a million short on a FA target.

I disagree. Its a very odd decision. Neal is almost certainly returning unless he gets a ludicrous offer. Joseph is likely the backup 2 guard unless otherwise proven. De Colo can legitimately play 2 positions and is 3 inches taller and a more talented passer. Mills almost certainly is returning to be a bench warmer unless injuries crop up or people fall out of the rotation. Not to mention Manu taking up 20-24 mpg at Mills natural position. I though he would have been a lock to return to Australia. Love his attitude though and is only 24 who knows what can happen next season.

Your trade theory is interesting, that makes the most sense. I have a mild suspicion that the Spurs are fielding interest in Green. Green + Mills could land another pick in the 20's

Nando >>>>>>>>>>>> Patty.

Play Nando, Pop......................

Nando can do it all.... Patty is just a shooter..... And a towel-waver........

I am not opposed to bringing Patty back with his duty being a towel-waver and male cheerleader, but he shouldn't see any minutes unless it's a blowout.

Nando for backup PG......... Play Nando...................

Unless CoJo completely falls off or gets injured, Patty's role will be about the same. Joseph was our best backup PG last year and I'm excited to see how well he improves over the summer summer.
