The Cleveland Cavaliers offered the No. 1 overall pick, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Kevin Love, according to a source.
The Wolves rejected the trade offer and hope to build around Love under Flip Saunders.
The thinking from the Cavaliers' perspective would be to pair Kyrie Irving with a legitimate All-Star in Love.
The Cavaliers have reportedly not decided on who to select first overall and also continue to look for a trade of the selection.

That would be a dumb trade for CLE. Love, while talented, is not someone that strikes me as a legit piece on a title team. Hell, he can't even get the Wolves to be decent with some solid pieces around him (PEK, AK47...)

Kevin Love will likely leave them eventually anyways. No way the Twolves are going to be contending for anything in the next 5 years. Wolves should pull the trigger tbh.

They should get out of Love's contract. He's an example of one of those fake superstars like Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire

To be fair, AK47 was on the team only this past year and Kevin Love was out injured for most of it. Pekovic really broke out this past season as well. Now if the T-Pups fail to make the playoffs next year then :lol.

This years pick is just weak man. Gilbert is fed up with lottery after guaranteeing he'll bring a title to Cleveland before Lebron does for Miami. Count is currently 2-0, Lebron, so DG is all worked up about being in the basement and missing the post season year after year.
Cleveland can skip the developmental stage and the risk that comes for each player not panning out, all that for an All Star player. Granted, Love is overrated but if you want 20 and 10, he's your guy.

Sure, Love is a safer pick as of right now to be a star than whomever is there, but I don't pass up on the potential for a star and take on large contracts for a guy I don't believe to be a true franchise player. I'm not even sure Love could be a legit top 3 option on a title team.

he's been a #1 option his whole career, hasn't he? we haven't seen him as a #2 let alone #3. i think thats takin it a bit far

I wouldn't argue with you too much there, but it's just my opinion on the level of player Love is. He is damn talented and I like him enough, just don't think he's worth a number one pick (in a weak draft) + another semi-talented young player. He's not going to turn them into a guaranteed playoff team so why bother?

Your forgot Ricky Rubio, the Timerpups were holding their own when both Rubio and Love were both healthy tbh

Wolves should take it. Resign pekovic, and that's a decent team with a bright future.
Rubio, pekovic, waiters, Thompson, Noel, jj barea, ak47, Williams, and sheved, with a chance at a badass player in next years draft, + their draft pick this year?
Thats a veeeeerry solid team.

Yup...Uncle Drew just trying to put his team back together...nothing more, nothing less.
:lmao Noel is so not NBA ready. Cavs arent in position to wait until this guy will be NBA starter. Rest of guys will be role players/ 4-5 string starters at best, and they arent worth high picks.

Kevin Love is injury-prone. Not even worth a top 5 pick.

There are plenty of players in this draft class that have real potential. It's not the strongest class, but give it a little more credit.

no wonder them mavs are trying to trade down their pick for more cap space, this year's draft is piss poor. the draft quality has been fairly bad since 10 and it's gonna hit a new low this year it seems like

You know this is a bad draft class when Jarvis Varnado with a high top is considered to be worth a top 5 pick.

Pretty bad deal for both sides.
Cleveland gets an injury prone guy, that may leave for LA when is contract is up...confincing Kyrie that the situation in Cleveland isn't good for him in the process.
Minnesota may not be happy looking at Love's contract and the pending D12 situation it implements. But what do they have after the trade other than like 10 good players but no real 1st banana?

That's pretty much where Houston was before the Harden trade. Sometimes, it pays to collect assets. I'd rather suck but have tons of young talent than suck and have a max player who's trying to call shots like he's won something.
