I'd still like to see the addition of PJ or Avery Johnson to the staff IF Brett Brown were to leave.

Interesting.

I wouldn't mind them still adding PJ or AJ but it might be good to have a new voice on the staff.

Good insight into Jim's capabilities in this brief article.

"Boylen’s main duty is working with the Pacers’ big men, and he’s been given some of the credit for helping develop Roy Hibbert into an All-Star. Indiana coach Frank Vogel is extremely complimentary of Boylen.

“He’s been a big-time help,’’ said Vogel. “He and Brian Shaw — adding those two guys to our staff has improved everything we do from a coaching staff standpoint. Honestly, I feel like we have two of the best assistant coaches in the NBA.’’
Vogel also said he believes Boylen has “a future as a head coach’’ in the NBA.
“The day-to-day game plans he gives us on the teams we’re playing, the analysis he gives on our own team and the ways that we can improve — really he’s one of the brightest basketball minds I’ve ever been around,’’ Vogel said.

Well, that can be taken 1 of 2 ways.. Spurs are looking for a big man in the draft or they're sticking with Tiago.. I hope its the former rather than the latter.

This move shouldn't translate to the draft. I believe this move translates to game prep, analysis, strategy and player development. Talented guy.

Brown might be coaching in Boston.

Sports Illustrated's Ian Thomsen was a guest on Comcast SportsNet New England's "Sports Tonight" and he says that he believes the Boston Celtics will hire longtime San Antonio Spurs assistant Brett Brown as the next head coach of the team. Celtics Blog

Having Jim Boylen will be beneficial to the Spurs whenever the play the Heat.This. Perhaps the Heat are the biggest reason why Pop and the FO hired Jim Boylan. I still think that the Spurs should try to improve their frontcourt via free agency. Tiago Splitter is soft as fuc* and gets his shots blocked by midgets.

Our bigs outside of Duncan need all the help they can get. This looks like a smart hire as Tim will need some help and the other bigs fill some holes, but create others with their weaknesses. I'd imagine he is a good hire because the Spurs hire great minds in basketball and no doubt he has a better shot at becoming a head coach from Pop's bench then from Vogel's.

Who was coaching the Lakers in the Finals when they blew that 24 point lead to the Celtics and lost the game? And then almost lost by 40 in the closeout game?

That's not as bad as being up 5 and with 28 left. Every coach has lost double digit leads and even been blown out in a game. Also the Lakers had a legitimate injury excuse. Bynum was out and Ariza had just come back from injury. The Lakers were in a similar situation against the Celtics in '10. They were up 2 late in game 7. PJ was smart enough to put Vucevic one of their better free throw shooters in the game and he helped seal the game for them. Why weren't our best free throw shooters in the game at the end of game 6? Leonard was shooting 60% in the playoffs and our game plan was to inbound to him?

In summary, there are 3 coaches in the history of the NBA who have a legitimate case to be ranked higher than Pop. But we simply can't let ourselves be satisfied with that even though there's no conceivable way that we could get any of those 3.

2m33sI like his enthusiasm. The guy well end up looking like a genius if Jeff Pedergraph pans out. He will look like a great addition to the coaching if Tiago Splitter improves his offensive game.

On the other hand, if Pendergraph turns out to be a bust and a complete waste of roster space then JIm Boylen will be greatly blamed for as the reason why we wasted part of our MLE on a scrub

I hope everything works out fine. .
