Good for him. Seriously, you guys want Spurs assistants to stay as assistants instead of getting their own head coaching gigs?
Pop culture has taken over the league.

Seriously -- settling for a head coaching job when you could be an assistant is a panic move.

Wouldn't be shocked if they bring back either PJ or hire Avery Johnson. Or maybe Boylen lead assistant and promote Forcier.

Anybody but AJ. Tim would veto that in a minute.

First Bud, now Brown. Who the hell will coach the SPurs in two years when Timmy and Pop retire together? The succession plan has gone out the window... :pctoss

(http://twitter.com/Matthew_Tynan)Interesting comment from R.C. Buford, saying the gun has perhaps been jumped on Brett Brown to the 76ers.

Jeff McDonald @JMcDonald_SAEN
(http://twitter.com/JMcDonald_SAEN)RC Buford on reports of Brett Brown to 76ers: "To the best of my knowledge, I think people are jumping the gun on the process."

Bud's plan is probably, ultimately, to return to the spurs once Pop hangs it up. The Hawks won't be a contender any time soon, and it seems unlikely he'll be able to succeed over there, long-term regardless of how good he might be.

What did Buford say? That Brett "jumped the gun on the process" or something like that? Bolted for a coaching position earlier than expected? He didn't sound congratulatory like the Spurs usually do in these hirings...

These assistants are cashing in while they can.. make some money but the teams they're going to are voids.

I heard will purdue saying that Hollins might come in as an assistant to take over for Pop in a few years when he retires.

Lionel Hollins? Doubtful. If I were a betting man I'd say he goes to Boston.

I hope the Spurs hire PJ Carlesimo or Avery Johnson to take over Brett Brown's spot.

You cannot blame any of our assistant coaches for seeking a promotion and Im sure the Spurs front office would support them if they were to receive a head coaching position someplace. Yeah, it sux to lose a good assistant but it is the way it should be.

Ok, so based on the articles I've just read - Charles calling the team that drafted him a joke for still not having a head coach with the Summer League about to be done and then the Sixers still deciding between Michael Curry and Brett Brown - does that mean that Brown is still part coaching staff? Or have the Spurs totally let him go?

Brown is still apart of the staff. Spurs hired Jim Boylen to take Budenholzer's spot. There were reports that the Spurs were interested in Ron Adams if Brown does leave.

Adams joined Boston IIRC. And Brown's still technically the top assistant due to seniority I guess.
