I am starting to view the spurs pick's as being cheap and not wanting to spend money on potential. Glen Rice Jr. was available also center Jeff whitley and the best we come up with is this guy who wont play till couple years from now. He could have been picked up in second round not the first.

Very disappointed.

I was hoping we could move up and grab Dieng or Nogueira. I was hoping we'd get Whitey. I understand having a player go overseas to get better and to get cap space, but this was our cvhance to have a big go under Duncan's arm and be the next Duncan (kind of like how Robinson did Duncan towards the end of his career).

IMO a year or two is wishful thinking, I doubt we see him until 3-4 years minimum.

No such thing as the "next Duncan".. Especially one of those draft picks. Our best bet is to get an experienced big man who can fit right in to help out Duncan. Timmy doesn't need to be giving some punk kid bball lessons right now. It's desperation time for a 5th championship.

draft and stash = maximizing cap space this year instead of giving guaranteed money in a weak draft... still with Glen Rice Jr. on the board, I thought that was a gimme

Great, another foreign player we won't see for 2-4 years. At least it will save cap space.

It was June 27 2001 when the spurs drafted Tony Parker at 28. I know this because my son was born that day.

The guy did dominate the US team at the Nike's World Summit. Had 27 points 13 rbs and like 5 blocks. He completely out played Andrew Wiggins who many think will be the #1 pick next year. I want Snell/Ledo/Muscala/Jean-Charles with this pick.

Teams probably stayed away from him b/c he plays for Tony's team and Tony wouldn't play him at all if he got drafted by another team. And he has 2 more years on his current contract.

Its not like this draft was gonna give us the final piece of the puzzle, just give me jack or another playmaker in fa and its all good

Didnt care for this pick to begin with

Don't be so short sighted people. No rookie would help us this year, so why not save cap space & gain a prospect. Aminu is on the way I'm thinking anyway! He was a top 10 pick..... This shit isn't an exact science people.

Hideous pick. Allen Crabbe was available. With Manu having come down with MS and with Gary Neil being, well, Gary Neil, Allen Crabbe, Jamal Franklin or Glen Rice Jr made so much more sense. They could help now.

livio Jean Charles looks very un athletic with no explosiveness. In 2,3 or 4 years he'll still be Un athletic and UN explosive. Absolutely no upside.

Oh man, I bet the Spurs front office wish they had you in the draft room tonight. Could've really used your expertise and first-hand observations of LJC!

Really like the pick. The extra cap space may be more valuable than any rookie would be this year. Plus, Jean-Charles has the potential to be a great fit for the future Spurs. A long 3/4 that the Spurs can develop is an important piece for the direction the NBA is going.

gosh i was so excited. i thought gobert was going to fall to the spurs!

i'm also not thrilled about draft and stashing... but oh well. i like those nike hoops summit numbers. and if there's enough cap space. cause of stashing. aminu+clark, free agency? i'd like this pick a lot more.

Obviously you haven't seen this kid play, I watched the Nike Summit Game on youtube yesterday and he was the best player for the most part on the and one the most athletic guys out on the court, Wiggins was the most explosive. He is every bit explosive as Kevin Durant (not saying he is good as him) and his length (7'3" wingspan) gives him an advantage as he just stepped around players with ease for layups and floaters. And he can shoot as well. He played with Schroeder, Karasev, etc. all the guys that got drafted ahead of him and he was the MVP of the game.

Touche. I also saw that a couple of places including on ESPN's broadcast. It will probably be a least a couple of year though.

@JMcDonald_SAEN: Jean-Charles basically blew up at the Nike Hoops Summit in April. Won MVP. Then didn't work out for any NBA teams. His closing argument.

my reaction is he better be tony parker/manu draft steal potential. the kind of guy that people will say a couple years for now "god dam how did they not pick him earlier" like parker and gino

I agree. I wouldn't be surprise if Duncan became a Spurs assistant coach in the future or like Robinson, who still works out with the Spurs and mentors the young guys on this team as well.
