Only Kobe would go under the knife in less than 24 hours. It's the roiling, the rage. What made him rape. What's made him pillage. What made him pass instead of launch.

It doesn't...but I had the privilege of watching game 5 in all of it's glorious splendor in person, so that has softened the blow considerably. Being honest, I wouldn't trade that game 5 experience for a title.

Apparently Phil Jackson is going to come back, but not as a HC and will be recruiting Dwight come FA, Rambis will also be an assistant coach for the Lakers (who also knows the good old triangle offense).

This doesn't make sense. So are they bringing Rambis to assist D'Antoni?

Yup. Rumors are starting that they'll mix the triangle offense with some Antoni sets, Phil has said that they can be ran together like that, I don't know if any of this will actually happen but I guess it's to convince D12 to stay with all the championship guys coming back.
I think the offense will be changed around with the help of Phil and Rambis. Kobe,Metta and Pau already know how to run that stuff so it would be a lot easier for them to adapt than the Princenton offense, but it will all be moot if Dwight leaves LA, tbh.

Kobe on adjusting his game:::
Kobe Bryant sat down with Lakers reporter Mike Trudell to discuss how his game may evolve due to the recovery process of his Achilles surgery. Kobe is expecting to be his old self and dominate once again on the court. According to Bryant, he is determined to play at a highly competitive level and make the Lakers playoff contenders once again.
“Its about taking on a challenge. Everything else that goes on around you is all peripheral opponents. But the challenge starts within.”
Trudell asked Kobe if he would have to adjust his game due to the Achilles recovery process and potential loss of speed. Kobe expressed how he may have to rely on having a superior repertoire of footwork, post-up work, and fade-away shots in his bag of tricks.
“It’s the way I grew up playing the game. I learned how to play a myriad of positions and different skill sets. There were times I wasn’t the fastest guy out there because I was playing against kids seven or eight years older than me. So I had to figure out how to be effective and that has helped me in my professional game because I can adjust my game and that’s why I can play through injuries or swollen ankles and loss of speed because of it.”
Kobe described how playing against older players growing up has helped him adjust his game to compete against faster, stronger and bigger players. He even played against grown adults in men’s league games as an eight-year-old in Italy.
Trudell asked Kobe if he thought that his speed or skills would be slightly diminished because of the Achilles. Kobe has such an all-around game that he doesn’t need to be reliant on his speed. Kobe developed his post-up game many years ago by the tutelage of the great Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwan.
“You just adjust. It’s not reinventing the wheel or anything like that. If you got to play a slower game then you play a slower game. If you have to post up more you post up more. If the explosiveness and speed is there you use it in moderation.”
Kobe was asked if Lakers fans could expect the same 24 as before. His response?
“That’s the one thing you can really count on as long as I’m here, I will be out there ready to go and I will be playing at a high level.”
The Black Mamba is hungrier than ever for two things. One to prove critics wrong. Two, to win his sixth NBA championship. The desire and determination for Kobe Bryant to get back to playing elite basketball is all he cares about.

"One to prove critics wrong."
& only one.
He's cognizant that this team is not championship materiel. He's thrilled to have this achilles calling, the rapt attention over the 82. Not on the front page center, like the Heat, but, on front page below the fold.
I'm happy for him. He's in his element.

Once again, proving you are an idiot of the highest order. You will type 6, but that's only because you know you are an idiot. Several players with that injury undergo surgery in the same timeframe as Kobe. It has nothing to do with the mentality as proven by the numerous people who have done it. All it proves is the swelling was not severe enough to prevent immediate surgery you idiot.

Shit, I was at the 2000 WCF vs. the Blazers and it was my greatest fucking live sporting moment. But I would trade it in heartbeat for a ring in 1984 when we blew a 2-1 Lead to the Celts or 2008 losing to the fucking celts again. I always want the title. and would tarde that glorious moment for a close call ata title turning in our favor. With one eception ...
I would NOT trade it for 2004. I loathed that fucking team. I know many on here shit on last year's team, and I wont make any excuses for them. But outside of Malone we were healthy in 2004 and Kobe and Shaq spent that season bickering, we had Colorado, the media bull-shit. that is the greatest failure not tlast year's team. That team did not FUCKING DESERVE a title. And I have no regrets about the Pistons kicking our ass, we deserved it.
Pont being Bene, you take the title. Only reason I dont in 2004 was no one on that team deserved to celebrate that yaer, not even Kobe or Phil.

Nope...call it selfish or whatever. It was my first and only Finals game and I wouldn't give to back for a win in Game 6 or 7. Now if the Spurs had never won a ring before I would...but they have 4 and even though this one would likely would have been the sweetest of them all, I still can't say I'd trade it. I'm sure there are people that live in SA that have been to plenty of Finals games and would disagree, but this was check mark off my bucket list that I'm not willing to erase.

I'd have to agree with this. Winning multiple titles, Duncan and co. had already cemented their legacies and had a chance at another, I'd rather see my team play live in a Finals win than watch us win a title on TV or a shitty online stream.
