Don't understand this move by the Knicks... giving up Novak and a 1st round pick for a backup Center?

And this almost guarantees the Knicks won't be able to afford to re-sign J.R. Smith.

Chandler Bargnani Melo JR Felton.

Bargnani's ability to shoot both off the catch and add in a little self created off the dribble stuff will be a huge improvement for the Knicks. That first rounder will be a late pick and who cares about Novak or Camby. That's like trading Bonner and TMac and a 1st for an actual player in Bargnani as bad as some of you think he is, I quite frankly put him closer to a Galinari / Ryan Anderson than to a total scrub.

The Knicks are offering a package built around Marcus Camby, Steve Novak and two future draft picks, one in the first round and one in the second.

You don't give away a first round pick to take back a shitty player on a shitty contract. If anything the Craptors should be giving them a pick.

He will be their starting PF I believe and put Melo at SF. Melo was awesome as a PF but I guess they don't like it for too long of stretches.

Yup. It's not that horrific of a contract (only 11M avg for 2 years so it's short) but the point remains. I think there was some decent interest in Bargs behind the scenes for this to happen. Maybe teams like him as a 3rd offensive option if you can cover up his defense (which Tyson does).

I think they caved way too quickly. If they would have refused to give the first they might not have gotten the deal done immediately, but I think Toronto would have caved eventually. It's still not great to have to pay Bargs that much but not giving the pick makes the deal worlds better.

1. I had no idea that Isiah Thomas was still the GM for the Knicks.
2. If they wanted an inefficient jumpshooting 7 footer who doesn't defend or rebound they could of have Byron Mullens for cheap.
3. Giving away first round picks for Bargnani? Really. This is just as stupid as the Grizzlies giving up a 1st round pick for Jon Leuer earlier this year.

Mike Miller in the prime of his career was one of the worst defensive players in the NBA. Worst then Melo. Horrible in man, horrible in help, and doesn't contribute in any way on the defensive. I mean guys like Mike Dunleavy Jr for example where blowing by him as if he was guarding LeBron for pete's sake.

Hakim Warrick, just like Mike Miller, is a none contributor on defense as well.

If you asked anybody but the Knicks organization which players are best suited to join the Knicks and contribute, Bargnani would be close to the bottom of the list.

The last thing they need is another chucker with JR and Melo on the roster. Gotdamn.
