View Full Version : another free agency rumor: spurs interested with john lucas III and zaza pachulia
David Aldridge ✔ @daldridgetnt (https://twitter.com/daldridgetnt)
Milwaukee, Portland, San Antonio join Hawks as suitors for Zaza Pachulia, per source. Pachulia recovery from Achilles surgery on schedule.
Mark Deeks @MarkDeeksNBA (https://twitter.com/MarkDeeksNBA)
Another name on the backup point guard market, John Lucas III, has himself an unlikely but legitimate suitor in the San Antonio Spurs.

Tbh, I'd rather just give Baynes a chance rather than pay Pachulia any type of money. He'll be on the wrong side of 30 soon and there's no guarantee he'll make it back from the Achilles injury. He has a lot of beef to carry around on a wonky tendon.
JL3 ........................... um ............... err................. well, I guess as a training camp invite, the Spurs could do worse. But even then, unless the Spurs start trading away their point guards, I don't see how he even makes sense as a training camp invite.

I'm fine with a cheap Zaza but only if a good small ball proof PF is on the way.
A point guard would have to be better than the present ones.

From Gortat to Pachulia in about 2 hours. Gotta love free agency.
Seriously though, Pazuzu has no business coming anywhere near San Antonio. Would be a completely useless addition.

I know there will be a lot of rumors but it's sad when you go from Ellis, AK47, Gortat to Pachulia and Lucas.

No reason for considering either of these dinosaurs.
Unless the Spurs are going to be short of cash and players soon cause they'll be trading cash and players soon for seriously paid talent incoming...

No to both. Low cost, low quality moves.
I'm tired of the cheap shit. I know the Spurs have a huge operating income. Time to stop pretending they don't have the money when they clearly do.

They'd both be solid additions to the summer league squad.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is what the Spurs end up with. SA's front office has always been terrible when it comes to FAs and trades. Poor Duncan - all-time great cursed with a mentally weak coach and soft Euros for his second and third options. Old DRob was the only great player he ever played with.

If they can trade Splitter for Gortat's $7.7m, sign Kirilenko for $7m, and re-sign Ginobili for $4m they'd be down to minimum salary guys. Makes sense they'd look at getting guys like Zaza or Oden cheap to fill out the end of the roster. Lucas to a much lesser degree. They'd need a min salary guard or 2 but I'd rather audition summer league guys than sign Lucas.
