:lol

I think the Spurs are just trying to show off now. This dude was 2-17 on two pointers in the Olympics. He was 19-40 on threes, but unless he's the next Steve Kerr ... there's no way survives the first week of training camp. Nice training camp fodder, though.

He'll be this year's Larry Ayuso.

By Angola Press Agency (Luanda)

Wing player of the Angolan basketball team Gerson Monteiro was the main highlight of the African group by becoming the second best three-points shooter of the 28th edition of the Olympic Games, which ended last Sunday.

The player from Petro de Luanda scored 19 three-pointers in six games (an average of 3.2 three-pointers per match) and was only defeated by the Lithuanian Arvydas Macijauskas, who converted 27 from the three point line in eight matches (3.4).

Having started the tournament on the bench, Gerson was called in to substitute the place of the Angolan three-point shooter, Victor Carvalho, injured in the third match.

To acquire the position he had 26 points in the last match against Serbia and Montenegro, in a match in which he scored seven three-pointer in twelve attempts (58 percent).

The winger was also in the sixth position of the free throws with an 84.2 percentage (16/19). The best free thrower was the Lithuanian Darius Songaila (92.0 percent), who converted 23 out of 25 attempts.

Victor Carvalho (wing) and Miguel Lutonda (play maker), besides being injured in the third match, were able to be amongst the top 10 players.

The wing player also from Petro de Luanda, besides only playing half of the matches, was the second most efficient shooter in the three points percentage competitions with seven out of 12 attempts (58,3 percentage), very close to the first ranked (the Greek Michail Kakiouzis with 62.5 percent).

The play maker of 1ä de Agosto club and African MVP was amongst the best ten in assistences with eight in three matches (2,7 percentage). The top position was occupied by the Lithuanian Sarunas Jasikevicius with a 5,6 percentage per game.

He put his name on the map by going for 20 against the US and 26 against Serbia & Montenegro in the Olympics (4-for-6 on threes). But yeah, this sounds like a goodwill signing like ChumpDumper said.

P.S.

If he does make it by some miracle, I wonder what Charles Barkley would have to say. Didn't he call the Angolan team a bunch of "spear chuckers"?

The fact that the Spurs are bringing this guy in will likely create interest in him with other NBA teams now. Validation.

Remember this time last year?

"Spurs announce the signing of Alex Ribeiro Garcia".

Would it be possible for Pop to sign someone that we know? I don't give a crap if they suck, but hell, at least sign someone who you know.

This turd signs more crap than the diamonds that he has found.

Pop is dumb.

Props to Iceman for hitting them all in one post!
