What is Manu worth?

you guys are so disrespectful to Manu ginobili. He's sacrificed at least 40m in earnings over his career and at least 3 all star appearances and 5 points off his scoring average and starter recognition for this team. Now that he's declining you rid of him.
Manu being the man that he is will definitely sign for less than 7m maybe as little as 4.5. Half of Tiago Salary. Half of Kirilenkos salary. Wil make in range of Green and Diaw.

Y'all should be grateful. Tim Tony Manu sacrificing.

Did this really need a whole new thread? Couldn't you have asked the same very question in the other 3 Tiago threads? smh

Soft Splitter is not worth 45 million! Should've sent his soft loser ass out of here! What were the Spurs thinking! Signing this soft clown so much money, there's hardly anything left to sign Manu and definitely no good FA! Thanks a lot RC & Pop!

So Ginobili gets paid 14 millions, plays inspired ball for Argentina when he should be resting, enters the NBA season fatigued and injured...misses a lot of games and plays like shit when he actually is able to suit up and chokes in the Finals(and all of the playoffs). Yeah, definitely made sacrifices for the team.

Um Ginobili turned down 4 years 65 in summer of 2010 to sign extension early for 3 years 39. Get your facts straight. It was slightly backloaded to help the spurs. That's why this year it pops out so sorely like 14m.

You do know 14m is his highest ever annual salary right? This dude in his prime was playing for us for 8m. Smh

How did you feel about the $14 million dollar ass-raping last season?

He already got his payday.

Gino-Step

No he didn't. He turned down 5 year 55m to Denver in mid 2000's and turned down 4 yr 65m in 2010. He has been underpaid by at least 40m over his career and you gonna quibble over the fact he made 4m more than he should have this year?

was Tim Duncan worth 21m per year from 2010-2012? And that's a dude that didn't take a paycut until he was 36 years old.

He's made $93 million in his NBA career and piggybacked Duncan for three rings. I'd say his NBA career has been more than fair. If he had been paid that 65 million, it would of been one of the worst contracts in NBA history...especially considering how injury prone Manu is and his really terrible longevity(went from first option to fifth option in the span of two years...declining very fast).

Just to clarify, he turned down the possibility of a max new contract to get a max extension. At his age and coming off a terrible 2008-2009 season, he'd have taken a big risk by not waiting until the off-season. The extension also wasn't back-loaded to help the Spurs, it was just the max increase from his 2009-2010 salary, and then just max increases beyond that. They couldn't have given him the contract in any other form.

93 is not much for a 11 year Hall of Fame player. David West of all people will have made 100m by the end of 13 years.

yes you would be correct. Considering Amare for 5 years 100m. I think Manu would have gotten 4 years 60+

At this point and after losing the finals this is all you care about is how much he got paid in his career? Shows some of you are more worried about your fave player than a team to say the least. Did he earn you a dime? NO.

If Manu retired last year or died like Drazen Petrovic suddenly he's immortal. Drazen was already on the wrong side of 30 and yet people talk like he would have dominated and "emerged" in the decade to come. Manu, he has 1 year that's bad and people change his legacy from underpaid hall of famer to doesn't care about spurs collecting 14m to play for Argentina.

I am here to protect his legacy and not let you guys forget. This is a disgrace the way you guys treating him.

I actually agree. He was awesome that season. But he was so hurt the year before that the Wizards tried to trade Gilbert Arenas for his expiring deal during the draft. A lot of people were surprised by the RJ deal because they thought that the Spurs were going to let Ginobili walk and sign a max free agent in 2010. There were a lot of moving parts, and it ended up being a pretty fair deal for both sides all things considering.

yes it was fair. He played above his contract in 2011 by a lot. And he was fair in 2012 and below in 2013. Calling his contract an albatross is absurd.

Such a double standard to ask him to sign for 2m -6m while asking to offer AK47, Monte, Splitter in the neighborhood of 9m. Manu's not your bitch. Just cause he allowed for not starting. Allowed for discount deals before etc. have some respect spurs fans.

David West career numbers: 16.1 ppg/7.2 rpg/2 apg/1 stpg/1 bpg on 49% FG

Ginobili career numbers: 14.9 ppg/3.9 rpg/4 apg/1.5 spg on 45% FG

Monta Ellis is 27. Splitter is 28. AK is 32. Manu is 36 and just had the worst year of his career. There's no sign that he's getting better so it's likely he'll be even worse next season. It would be idiotic to pay someone 8 million when they can't even outproduce 40 year old Ray Allen in a Finals series.

Are you seriously trying to argue that Manu's last contract should be so big that it makes it impossible for the spurs to sign free agents for Tim's final ride?

WTF?
