We don't sign big names, we don't chase big names. That's not our MO. We develop players or stash them. Each year we get our hopes up and nothing never really satisfies us as spurs fans because we don't get the names like, JR Smith or Al Jefferson or Tyreke Evans. Remember that one player we got that one year first name was after a male body part? Well we all know how that turned out. He was a terrible fit and not because he was a bad player just because he didn't fit the system. Now we signed a player like Diaw last year and was a perfect fit. It's the system and as hard for me to say this I trust the system and the personnel the spurs dillegently chose. And trust me don't get it twisted I would love to get one of these big names but I just don't see it. But I'll put my money on it they the spurs will find a nice complimentary players a la Gary Neal in this years summer league. Thanks for reading its my first list just wanted to drop some lines. Nothing negative or nothing just some real talk.

To be fair - Richard Jefferson was a big name.

True but look where that got us. Makes it more unlikely that it happens again.

Next big name to come here will more than likely be after Duncan and Manu retire. Then we'll get a few big names here.

The Spurs are too effing loyal is all. Nauseatingly so. It's been about the big three and the big three only for more than a decade. Spurs have never had the money to sign another significant FA.

Good. I think I'd like another quarter century of very good to elite basketball from a small-market team.

Kawhi needs to build a personality and get chummy with future national teammates.

Shit if that's the case Damon Stoudemire was a big name.

They won 4 championships and seriously competed for a few more. I'll continue to trust them.

Will the Spurs be able to bring in a few big names, and re-sign Leonard long-term? Once Duncan and Ginobili retire, they should have a ton of cap space.

Spurs have the luxury of watching Kawhi develop for another year - but if he improves at the same rate next year that he did this year, he'll be a top 5 SF & deserving a near max deal & there will still be enough cap room to sign some premier FAs in 2015.

I was just telling my buddy I'm so sick of seeing Twitter reports that we are interested in every player out there....Gortat, Ellis, AK 47, Oden, Monta, Chauncey and now Korver. Do their agents leak these lies to the media the Spurs are interested in their client to drive up the interest and contract?

We signed Splitter, Manu will get the bulk of what's left and we will sign some stiff for the balance that's left.

It's hard to believe he was a bad player and he had all those prior good years in his career. He just didn't fit. Went to the warriors and drink really care about basketball anymore. I'm nowhere trying to defend him I just felt he was a bad fit.

14 straight 50 win seasons suggests that the system in place probably has worked ok.

I'd be jumping off a building if they signed Jefferson or JR Smith. Who the heck wanted guys like this? I'd rather have AK than either one.

I like Gortat and AK only thing about AK is he kind of injury prone but would be a good addition.

I honestly like Blair he never got his fair shot. No point in pointing out the obvious we all no he's undersized. Only thing I didn't get is why he didn't add more to his game? When your disadvantage is your height you have to find other means of surviving with the land of giants.

This was always going to happen though! The Spurs were not going to just sign some name thrown out there and it got people excited for no reason! This happens year after year and they never seem to learn thats not going to happen nor what the Spurs do. They might get a piece or two now and nobody fans wanted in their top 5 wish list! That is the way it is, frankly competing every year has proven either A that is the right strategy or B they blow chances at big names by signing their guys year after year (I take the first option). This is the Spurs way, period.

Nope. It is only because of Duncan. Duncan is the best big man in the game over the course of those years. Duncan is one of the best all time greats and the Spurs success is a direct result of Duncan. Once he is gone the front office will be exposed as not being anything special and the spurs will be like all the other annual lottery teams until they land a franchise player again.

You sound just like me Rascal. For some reason all these Spurs homers think that it's a crime for me to idolize Tim Duncan's greatness so much. I guess it's because Manu is their favorite player.
