"Dwight Howard will screw it up because that's what he is: a screw-up. He's not a lovably well-intentioned screw-up either, a guy like JaVale McGee or even Tony Romo, trying his best but just ... screwing it up."

"This is the guy the Lakers (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/teams/page/LAL/los-angeles-lakers) -- theLakers, for God's sake -- abandoned their Los Angeles cool to chase like a 13-year-old dork going after the prettiest airhead in school."

Do you guys think the approach would be the same if Jerry Buss was handling it?

They're putting up billboards all over town with a huge picture of Dwight Howard's favorite player.

No mercy in this article.

pretty stupid article, other than the terrible way he went away from orlando, it's just a bunch of stupid trash talk with no arguments.

Dwight doesn't care about his kids, why would people think he cares about winning?

^& how many are left that really care about winning? Your crew, Kobe. Riley in FL.. Nobody else jumps to mind. That's all there is for Kobe. He defines himself in that equation. James doesn't and won't because it's not in his makeup. We talk about Kobe walking away when the prime is gone and not embarrassing himself. Please. He'll end up worse off than MJ did in DC.. Now, James, he's such a candidate, not because he'd chance risking embarrassment, but, because he wants to get on with his life. This is not his life. For Kobe, this is. James looks at the 100 games ahead of him in October and blanches, ashen faced. Kobe looks at it like a kid on Xmas morning.

Howard is not an anomaly, or, an exception.

It's all about building and expanding their brands. It's why KD left his agent to team up with Jay-Z's sports agency.

The money is corrosive, but, I try and dismiss it from the front of my mind, at least for as long as I can, though I'm getting closer to the edge every day. It's too much money to be frivolous with as it was in the '80s-'90s. So now twenty years later it's micromanaged out of NY. because it's too much money to shilly shally with.

But, there is a price to be paid for that micro managing and the fan is the one who suffers and will suffer the most.
