View Full Version : Lakers: What nobody seems to realize about the entire D12 sage...

No player of D12's stature has EVER turned down a guaranteed 30 million dollars. This cannot be overstated enough.
There are absolutely no guarantees that Dwight will get a chance to sign another max contract. There are a myriad of things that could happen to a player that takes a beating nightly the way he does. You simply don't roll the dice on $30 million.
D12 stays in LA for this reason, and this reason only. Nobody in their right mind turns down $30 million.

Dazed is correct here. Not only does no one turn down 30M, no one ever turns down the chance to play in LA. Hell, people usually take less than they could make to play in LA because it's a mighty franchise with tons of outside of basketball earnings potential.
Not only does no one turn down LA because of that, no one could turn down LA after having a franchise that is so might, court you the way they did Dwight. When you combine all of that with 30M, Dazed is correct. It would be the most historic slap in the face in all of sports history right on the coattails of the biggest disappointment in NBA history with this stacked LAL team barely making the playoffs only to be swept.

So you want him now?
Obviously if he resigns he'd be tacitly agreeing to Kobe's stipulations.

I wouldn't pass the $30 million up. It'd pay the IRS for the $90 million.

The next time Dwight uses common sense and logic to make a decision will be the first, son... :lol
This shit should make people appreciate CP3 a lot more, tbh.... there was minimal drama, no begging, and no back-and-forth bullshit.... he knew what he wanted and got his decision out of the way quickly..... he's an adult, while Dwight is a juiced-up manchild....

Not only that, he never even won a state championship in HS, an NCAA title, and never been out of the 2nd round of the NBA playoffs. :lol

CP3 did those things in New Orleans when he forced his way out. Maybe mention someone to appreciate who has never been a begging drama queen ever in his career.

Paul may be a prima donna but he's decisive.

Good set up jab. Now we just wait on Howard to see if you can finish with the uppercut knock out.

Howard doesn't want any part of a Laker's organization that includes Bryant and/or D'Antoni. It will be the reason he will sign elsewhere. End of story.

Just shows how much Dwight hates Kirby. He's willing to pass on $30m to get away from that shit show in LA. :lmAO

If the Magic got him you could slot in scrubs at the 1 and 4/5 and still win 50 tbh

The clarity of Bryant's statement leaves no room for Howard to misconstrue it. He'll be the student, Kobe the teacher.

Agreed, but this is Bible Kemp we're talking about here. This is a guy who decided to opt-in for another year with Orlando because he got his fweewings huwt by all the mean things people said about him on twitter. I would think he would need that extra $30 million for all the child support payments he'll be making, but who knows...

If he's holed up in Colorado with anyone it's an army of accountants and agents who are crunching the numbers. $30 million. Can he make that up in endorsements as "The Man" with another franchise instead of sharing the spotlight in LA? What's the bottom line on cost of living and state taxes elsewhere? Can they pocket that in projected savings by picking a market with lower fertility rates?

Wow. I am just shocked. I thought such a storied franchise, after suffering the most humiliating disappointment in NBA history last year could get no worse. But then they started begging. I never for one second though the Lakers could be a part of two of the most large meltdowns in sports history.
Just stunning. This is the most historical slap in the face in all of sports history, not just the NBA.
