The following statement has been issued by Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak.
"We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers. Naturally we're disappointed. However, we will now move forward in a different direction with the future of the franchise and, as always, will do our best to build the best team possible, one our great lakers fans will be proud to support. To Dwight, we thank him for his time and consideration, and for his efforts with us last season. We wish him the best of luck on the remainder of his NBA career."

Not really. They are in dire straights right now. Real talk. This was a major, major blow to a once proud franchise that seems to be spiraling out of control. They have no means of getting better because their star has suffered a terrible injury, they have no money to improve and they lack the fortitude to do what is necessary to lessen the blow.

This year is likely lost for them and with Kobe's age plus that gruesome injury on top of the fact the luster is now completely off this franchise, things could get ugly for a while for LA. At least until Kobe is gone.
