Full @Shaq (https://twitter.com/Shaq) quote on @DwightHoward (https://twitter.com/DwightHoward) leaving #Lakers (https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23Lakers) for #Rockets (https://twitter.com/#!/search?q=%23Rockets): "The Dwight Howard thing, it was expected. We've all been in LA, and not a whole lot of people can handle being under the bright lights. Everybody wants to do it, but when you get there, there are certain pressures. I think it was a safe move for him to go to a little town like Houston. That's right, little town. I said it."

Didn't know Houston was a little town but OK :lol

He's been saying this before Dwight went to LA anyway so it was obvious he would take the jab. Dwight leaving makes Shaq look like a God now to LA fans.

While I agree that Bible Kemp's a bitch, the idea that he's "too scared to play for the Lakers/in LA" is retarded..... Houston is a big market, the Rockets are a historic franchise, and they have their own lineage of great bigs for B-Kemp to live up to, tbh.... this is just spinning on the media's part to deflect any blame from Kirby and their beloved Lakers for how this saga ended, imho....

The LA media really isn't that bad compared to NY for instance. As long as you're somewhat decent, guys like John Ireland will slob your knob 24/7 tbh.

Houston a big market? perhaps but mostly because of Lin and his chink fanbase

you can't be serious comparing the pressure in Houston and L.A.

that isn't to say Howard left because of that, he probably left because of Kobe :lol

I've been in and out of So Cal from 1991 until 2004 tbh (most servicemen rotate to new duty stations every 3 or 5 years - mine was every 3).

Anyway, I can't imagine NYC media being any worse than LA - other than for baseball - since the Knicks haven't done shit in over 40 years. The Lakers OTOH have won more LOBs than any franchise - including them bums in Beantown - during that time frame. Hence my thoughts that there is more media scrutiny in LA than NY (basketball wise). The expectations for the Lakers are astronomically higher Han the Knicks son.

“[Houston] was the best fit for me basketball-wise,” Howard said. “And no offense to [Lakers Coach] Mike D'Antoni, but we're talking about Kevin McHale, who had a million moves in the post.”

Howard declined a five-year, $118-million contract offer from the Lakers to accept a four-year, $88-million deal with the Rockets, his third team in an 11-month period.

“Walt Disney said, ‘Big risks, big rewards,'” Howard said. “He put everything he had into ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' and the sky was the limit. Now there's Disneyland and Disney World.

“It's a big sacrifice leaving $30 million. Really, really a big sacrifice. But I want to win a championship and I want to get back to being the person who I am and have some fun and enjoy playing basketball. And I think that's what I'll find in Houston.”

Texas has more favorable taxes on income than California, bridging the gap somewhat between the contracts offered by the Lakers and Rockets.

Howard declined to discuss whether he was dismayed by the Lakers' aging roster or by any lingering uncertainty in their front office after the death of longtime owner Jerry Buss in February.

“I'm not going to sit here and throw rocks and jabs at the Lakers,” he said. “It didn't end the way we wanted but I was able to develop a much thicker skin. I'm looking forward now to being the veteran in Houston.”

What a clown. :lol

If Dwight had re-signed and failed to bring a title in his tenure, Lakerfan would have just blamed Pringles and Jimmy for their failures.

Players have it relatively easy in LA tbh. Mental midgets like Lamar and Pau have flourished in LA. Sure, it's not as laidback as Houston or SA but it's not some high-pressure market like Shaq is making it out to be tbh.

It turns out the Lakers were adamant about no s&t whatsoever. I thought they were posing, but, they weren't. And it also turns out that the Asik contract has a balloon year in '15 at $15 million.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe players sometimes don't live up to expectations, no matter what team it is?

For example I could say that RJ failed on the Spurs because he couldn't handle Pop's system and pressure.

Or I could not be a retard and realize the dude just wasn't good anymore.

or maybe RJ just felt too depressed to play at his normal level playing in San Antonio without Jason Collins.
