Yeah, he was missing Baynes.

7 guards & 6 big men = we need a trade to get the backup SF we need.

Looking at the lineup, I don't think we are going to make any more deals until Gary Neal's RFA is cleared up. If we sign someone else it takes away any stance we might have in a sign and trade with him, unless they are considering trading Nando which would free up a spot on the bench for Neal.

If we're looking to keep Neal, we should trade 2 guys -- it seems silly to carry 7 guards again.

A fall back would be McGrady for the vet minimum. Its a low risk, average reward. If he get in to the rotation he is capable of playing 3 positions and could at the very least fill in for Kawhi for 12mpg.

Losing out on Aminu, Barnes and Caspi hurt but as your said a trade is possible.

It wouldn't be impossible to move Neal in an S&T for a wing. Minnesota could be an option. They still help some scoring on the wing they have Martin and Budinger with Shved and Cunningham. That doesn't have a ton of punch on the wing.

Moving Neal for Derrick Williams would be an option. He has been dangled at least 4 times already in 2 seasons in various trades. They don't seem to be in love with him. He is a combo forward though would see almost all of his time at SF with the Spurs. They also have been rumored to be willing to move Barea to Dallas. Which would leave them with only 1 SG depending on who they get back.

Don't think we're looking to keep Neal, I think it's more about not losing an asset for nothing. After the finals, he has value and some team with money is going to want him especially when the focus falls on his tier and he's best available.

It seems unlikely we will keep him. On the other hand I see us maybe unloading De Colo for a 2nd round top 55 protected to a bad team. They won't have to give us really anything and we can pocket the cap space of $1.45 million. We would open up a second roster spot and have $1.4 million to sign a vet, and another $2.5 to with the room exception.

It's entirely likely that this it for free agency:

1. Spurs bring back 12 of the 15 players on the playoff roster.

2. Neal, Blair, and TMac are the only players who do not return.

3. The MLE is split between a Neal replacement (Beli) and a Blair replacement (Pendergraph).

4. 15th roster spot does not get filled any earlier than the end of training camp.

5. ST uses the :bang emoticon so frequently that it has to be retired.

spurraider21

or if we find out we're ridiculously lucky...
Replace Neal with Belinelli at room exception
Replace Blair with Pendergraph at vets minimum
Replace Jax/Tmac with AK47
Profit

I still think the FO is looking at trades to get a real backup SF. But, of course, trades are a crapshoot, depending on what the other team needs, so no telling when or if a deal will get struck. And, of course, our trade pieces are mostly expiring contracts, which will be worth considerably more at the trade deadline than they are now.

More likely spurs will get a few people into training camp and go from there. Maybe someone from the summer league team

I could see the Spurs trading both Joseph & Mills or both DeColo and & Mills, but don't think the Spurs would trade both Joseph & DeColo.

They're not trading Joseph. Too much potential there.

More potential = easier to move, and someone's gotta go.

Not going to happen with Dwight bolting. They have like 7 players under contract and a $70M payroll. He doesn't save them much now, and they need bodies.

MWP after he is amnestied and an extended audition player.

Not only would that be a solid use of those two spots, but that's actually really close to what I'm hoping. Either use the extra spot for a rotation or rookies or for a player who gets bought out after the deadline.

If they just decide to pack it in for the year, sign cheap players, and amnesty MWP, it would keep them out of the repeater tax.

Bonner is a useful player especially during the regular season for what he is payed, he knows the system and for all reports is a great lockerroom guy and good on community outreach why wouldn't you keep him around, unless you get a significant basketball upgrade?

If we do take Bonner into the regular season then I imagine there will be a lot of speculation on a trade deadline move. Expirings always have value.

What im confused with though, is if we get ak47, will manu just be basically our back up pg again? Marco is gonna get in before cojo i think manu obviously will too. So that makes our back up line up manu-marco-ak47-diaw-baynes correct?
