During Bryant’s senior year, Nash scouted Kerry Kittles at Villanova practices and then watched Kobe play about five miles away. At the end of the season, Nash was let go by Washington, but then hired by John Calipari, who had just joined the Nets as coach and president.

"I started there about two weeks before the ’96 draft and Kobe had already worked out for them twice," Nash said. "I was delighted to learn Calipari really liked him. I echoed John’s feelings and we arranged to bring him in a third time, which sealed the deal."

"Nevertheless, we arrived back at the office around 2 p.m. still planning to select Kobe," Nash said. "Calipari had final say and although Joe Taub had been instrumental in bringing John to New Jersey, Kobe was still the choice. That’s when the spit hit the fan."

"Kobe’s representative called me. Even though Arn Tellem had been excited to know we were going to select his client, he now claimed Kobe did not want to be in Jersey and might not sign."

Bryant foreshadowed his gall. In 1996, Bryant, a teenager exiting high school for the N.B.A., was not the first pick, but he exuded self-importance when he refused to play anywhere but Hollywood.

With the 13th selection, with a deal to trade Bryant to Los Angeles in pocket, Charlotte chose him. But there was a point where it looked as if the Lakers’ Vlade Divac would retire rather than take part in a trade that would send him to Charlotte for Bryant.

Couldn’t Bryant be a Hornet? Could he grow to love Southern sweet tea?

"That is an impossibility," Bryant’s agent, Arn Tellem, said at the time. "There are no ifs. It would not happen. He is going to be a Laker, and that’s the only team he’s playing for."

Kobe may have made mistakes in his life but he's still with his one wife, his one family and he still plays for one franchise.

Kobe is worth nearly $300 million...if the guys here actually believe he sucks and he's manufactured they should be studying the mother fucker so they can get to that level of con artist if they seriously believe he's a fraud. Why hate?

He's likely worth more than that, but yeah I'd be an unbelievable con artist if I was able to amass that much amount of money.

If you're not good at your job like these faygo drinkers claim and he's worth more than Lebron and competitively close to Magic and MJ...yes you should worship that guy.
