View Full Version : NBA: Just Wondering What Other Great Bigs Would Have Done...

If Battier is on Kareem's backside in the post, can anyone imagine Kareem missing a sky hook layup?
If Shaq has Battier underneath the rim with the game on the line... can you visualize the carnage?
Would Hakeem come up with anything less than an and 1?

Can anyone in their right mind mention Timmy up there with the other legendary big's after such a choke job? However, I do have a great center in mind when I think about Timmy's ultimate choke job.:toast

GREAT CENTERS... BUT NOT LEGENDS!!!

It was inexplicable. Duncan panicked and went quickly, like a house afire. He just wanted it to be over, and easily nothing difficult anymore. Even Battier standing there was an aggravation, a hindrance. 6 hadn't worn off yet. He was still in a state of shock.

when he saw he had battier on him, it was smart to make a move quickly before the inevitable double team. he missed the bunny though. at least he didn't beg and grovel for those 2 points

It was just one missed shot, you wouldn't be talking about it if Spurs won the game still.

You can make fun of TD but he was the most consistent player in that series (even better than Lebron until Game 7, imo)

30 pts 17 rebs at 37 yrs old, in the NBA Finals, against prime Lebron and the most stacked roster since early 2000 Lakers or 2004 Lakers, that's legendary right there. His coach decided to pull him out and cost him the title, he should have been holding the LOB trophy at the end of Game 6, it should have been Kirby:5 TOSB Duncan: 5, it should have been Spurs 2013 champs.

No... he didn't beg nor did he grovel, but he did bend over and take one up the poop shooter like a champion. Duncan stands in a league of his own with this gaffe. He blew a fucking layup!!!

He also had 30 points 17 rebounds in Game 6 and would have been Finals MVP if his coach didn't fucking take him out and leave turnobili in for OT.

Bingo! Just because Media let him off the hook didn't mean we were going to. Filet is right= Duncan bent over and took the pickle. It happens.

Battier is a legit defender at PF imho. Dude used to do a good job defending PFs while he was playing in Memphis (the first tenure) but gradually settled at SF in Houston.

I imagine Kareem wouldn't have made it to even game 6 against the Heat tbh.

Dude was a decent player, but always played in a watery 70s and 80s league against weak competition. A clean sweep by The Kang is a definite possibility.

Let Duncan own this, Jugs. It ain't gonna kill him, or, you guys. Don't be a piss pot loser. Duncan choked. Pop screwed up. Parker quit ala McNabb for the Eagles in the Super Bowl, Manu fell completely apart. You guys were abandoned by the very men you so revered. It's crummy, but, it's the truth and mitigating it will serve you nary well.

Parker played well enough. Duncan played legendarily. Manu played badly. Pop made a few mistakes.

But ::: Lebron James is nigh on unstoppable.

That's convenient and easy. James was bagged not once, but, twice and escaped both times. Once against Indy, once against you. I don't know why you can't face it. Deflecting it won't change the outcome.

James won't be denied until his body or his team fail to deliver. Right now, both are in top form.

Nothing more need be said; there's no shame in losing to the Kang.

Before "6" happened... the media was ready to crucify James. They've long been tired of carrying his ass. Did you see the hugging and kissing going on after that fucking game. It was if they all collectively exhaled for his ass.

Jugs, I thought you walked tall, but, this is pablum, straight out of the Media's talking points bulletin.

You denied James, had him whooped and he wriggled free.

Juggy, c'mon, don't spoil your ('85) by rinsing your ('84). You have an appointment with destiny next June. Be better than the hordes. Take a step away and then one forward. Then be ever so still...

Kareem?

I completely agree. Kareem only had to verse scrubs like Wilt, Robert Parish, Hakeem, Patrick Ewing, Moses Malone, Bill Walton, Elvin Hayes, Bob Mcadoo, Dan Issel, and the other "weak" bigs of the 70s and 80s. There is no way that these scrubs would be able to compete against the dominant centers of today's game like Dwight and Bosh.

Yes, this was a sarcastic post if anyone still hasn't figured it out.

Pointing out the exceptions doesn't disprove the rule. The 70s and 80s were a weak time for the league. The Lakers making it out of the West 8 times in the 80s is a function of that weakness.

Well, I completely disagree. Players like Hakeem, Ewing, Barkley, Clyde and Jordan, who started in the mid 80s, would go on to dominate the 90s. Lebron, Wade and Bosh would have absolutely no chance against a team of Magic, Worthy and Kareem or a team of Bird, Parish and Mchale. They'd probably even struggle against an average team of the 80s like Hakeem and Ralph Sampson's Rockets.

I just recently watched some of the 1986 NBA finals. Those mother fuckers couldn't dribble or play defense for shit. Even Magic could barely dribble with his left hand
