it's actually a perfect fit, a veteran presence in a young backcourt, also Chauncey is a great defender (ok now he's old) and a great shooter. He's a great complement to both combo guards that struggle with ballhandling. A 4 of billups, josh smith, monroe and drummond would have unique physicality and thoughness. With Knight, we could be looking at a top 5 starting lineup defense, next year.

2.5m per year is not that bad for what Billups can bring to the locker room and I think he could still be a servicable back-up, mentoring the young guys and what not.

Even after his achilles injury in the games he did play he was still solid from 3. Basically a Derek Fisher. But obviously not as bad.

De facto member of the coaching staff like he was in LA, tbh... Mo Cheeks only has to twiddle his thumbs while Chauncey handles the offense and Sheed the development of Moose and Dre, tbh...

might as well trade KCP and Moose to Memphis for Tayshaun, tbh

:lol Some "leader"... the Clippers won more playoff series with him on the sidelines than they did with him playing (and bricking), tbh, and he was one of the biggest reasons for the loss to Memphis last season.... the way he screwed over Willie Green by refusing to come off the bench pretty much invalidates his "Teammate of the Year" award....

Dude's just delusional at this point, he still thinks he deserves to be a starter (even though he's completely done) and thinks he's worth more than the vet's minimum....

Oh yeah, I'm sure Billups was the reason Clips couldn't hang with the big boys.

Your team will win about 50-55 Games in the regular season and you'll look good in the standings, but come playoff time you'll lose to an actual superstar. But thanks for choking 4 straight games against Memphis and not letting OKC advance to the WCF, tbh.

Chauncey had 2-8, 0-6, and 1-4 shooting nights that series, while not getting to the line (which he's supposed to be good at) and being generally useless in general, wasting minutes that could have gone to Willie Green (who the team played better with in the starting lineup)....

The biggest reasons for the playoff failure last year were the Clippers' horrendous wings (Caron wasn't much better) and DeAndre Jordan, tbh.... DJ's still around for now but washed-up Chauncey and Caron were replaced by younger and better players who will actually contribute..... keep reflexively scoffing every move the Clippers make if you'd like, but getting rid of a 36-year-old point guard playing out of position at the 2 who can't score, get to the line, or play defense anymore is absolutely the right move....

CP3 played well all series other than Game 3, Blake definitely was subpar though except for Game 2, and then played like complete trash when he got injured because that dumbfuck Vinny decided to have a full-contact practice, but neither were anywhere near as bad at full health as the starting wings and Jordan were all series.... the backdoor sweep could have been avoided with any consistent production at the 2 or the 3, imho....

Makes zero sense basketball wise. Don't know what Billups will be like as a mentor especially if he thinks he still deserves minutes.

Only explanation to me is that Dumars (or owner Gores) thinks he can help put more fans in the stands since the attendance has been horrible the last few seasons.

I was watching the Spurs @ Pistons game this season and all I could think was "has the Palace really turned into a high school gym?"

This summer is time of reunion imho. Mavs got DH back home and Chauncy came back to Pistons, and the Lakers are trying their best to bring back as many 09-10 members as they can.
