No. 1 pick Bogut ejected from summer league game
Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS - Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut, the No. 1 pick in this year's NBA draft, was ejected from a summer league game on Monday after tangling with Indiana Pacers center John Edwards.
Edwards, who was also ejected, got caught up with Bogut underneath the basket and inadvertently shoved him to the ground as he headed back up court.
Bogut bounced off the floor and went after Edwards, but the two were separated by teammates before they made any contact.
After deliberating for a few minutes, the officials surprisingly decided to eject both players rather than issue technical fouls, eliciting heavy complaints from both coaching staffs.
"It was a pretty quick hook," Bogut said after the game. "I needed a rest anyway."
Edwards said the initial contact was not intentional.
"I don't think it was merited," he said of the ejection.
It was a frustrating day for Bogut, who was 1-for-7 with 6 points and four fouls when he was ejected. He was also dominated on the defensive end by Pacers center David Harrison, who scored 14 points in the first half with Bogut guarding him.

Why is everyone trashing Bogut? He didn't even start the thing, he got shoved to the ground first and got up to get in the other guy's face...No punches thrown, just words. Dumb ejections on the ref's part.

Exactly. Summer league is pretty much meaningless, Check out Marvin Williams box score against us if thats who you would of chosen instead of Bogues.
It was a weak draft but I'm 99% sure that Bogut won't bust. Once he adjusts/learns the nba game it will be all sweet.

Exactly, pretty much everything he has said has been taken out of context. With the whole Kobe thing he definately should not have used names, but shit happens and one he learns to handle the media well he should be fine.
If he fails to do so then you have problems, but you can put most of what he has said down to honesty and lack of tact as appose to having an egotistical character.

John Hammond, Pistons assistant coach, said recently that no one that size and age is so quick, handles the ball or shots better, but true to be said Larry Brown would have made a bust of LeBron, too.
Few players could compete with Rasheed, Ben Wallace and McDyess, right from the high school and the Nuggets ware trying to go up in the draft to pick him. Jermain O'Neal couldnt get playtime either for 4 years.
But so far, Darko has showed very little for a #2 draft pick.

That doesn't changed the fact that you have labelled him a bust purely upon hersay. We won't know if his a bust until he actually starts getting playing time. There a countless players that have been dissapointments out of the draft but have redeemed themselves later down the track due to a change of situation or maturing.

Going after someone for shoving you warrants an ejection? Bogut did nothing. This happens all the time in the nba and the most the players get is a technical foul.
I like that fact that Bogut has a bit of a mean streak in him. Not too many foreign big men (granted he played in utah) show that type of fiestiness need in the nba. i.e D-A-R-K-O

Its typical Australian humor dripping with sarcasm I actually laughed when I read it. I don't expect you to nescessarily understand it just know its not meant to be taken the way you took it.
Australians are not Euros, I'm sure you know that and while no one has labelled him as one in this thread note that our general demeanor is very different from a European. The same can be said for Argentinians I guess.
Retaliation was certainly not clever but it happens on the court, most players I know have been in exchanges with other players, verbal or otherwise. In this case it was a verbal one that should have resulted in techs for both players, but that fault lies at the refs as appose to the players. Basically I don't see how you can fault either player in this instance and you just have to get on with it.
Unfortunately there seem to be those that want to take issue with Boguts actions regardless of the facts which as presented here just seem to be a typical on court altercation. Anyone who has been around basketball for more than a few years knows this is harmless and to treat it otherwise to hate on a player is narrow minded.

On Darko my point was that its way to early to label him as a bust and he has seen an infinite amount more nba court time than Bogut. Calling someone a bust during there first summer league is laughable.

Jermaine O'neal recovered fine from warming the bench with Portland.
I'm not a Darko lover by any means but I'm defending him to make a case. Theres always a chance for a player his age to overcome it all and get some help with a new coaching staff or whatever and grow into maybe not a star but a good player.

Dude I'm sure Duncan will give him a nice schooling as well. His a rookie not a superstar ffs, you shouldn't be expecting him or any of the draft picks to hold there own against Shaq in the first years of there career, hell Shaq dominated not only rookies but any centre of worth for a few years in there.

His coach wasnt Larry Brown. Carmello did look like a complete bust at the Olympic games, and like a superstar at the end of the regular season with George Karl.

But he most certianly can dominate a rookie centre entering the league. You've missed the point, no one in their right mind expects Bogut to be able to outplay Shaq yet. Chance are it will happen in the not to distant future with Shaq on the decline and Bogut on the up.
I wanna see him vs. Shaq. I'll not be surprised if he starts crying like a bitch after Shaq abuses his ass.
As stated Bogut probably wont outplay Shaq for a while but I give you my assurances he'll do his best.

Your proving my contention for me, Larry Brown has stunted Darkos nba growth through no playing time. Thus it is unfair to label him as a bust without realistically knowing what he can do. Sure there is a chance hes a bust but theres also the chance his the next Jermain O'Neal.
Bogut hasn't even played nba minutes, thats right you know less of his nba game than you do Darkos. To call him a bust, now onbly makes a mockery of yourself.

I've never been the biggest fan of Bogut. I was not too impressed when I saw him play Kentucky in the Sweet 16 in Austin (and I sat two rows and exactly behind Rex Chapman). Still, he should be a decent center by today's rather paultry center standards.

He started a game against Atlanta and went for 16 points or something from memory on good shooting. No one on this forum is informed enough to call him a bust, yet...
Bogut is just showing the Australian in him with those comments. Nothing unusual to see Australian Sports people speaking like that.
As for his performances, I've learnt not to read to much into Summer Leage stats. LeBron sucked large ones in his summer league games, then came out and was a couple of assists/rebounds off a triple double in his first NBA game.

I can vouch for that - but the problem is Bogut hasn't acheived a thing (ok .. except being no.1 pick) in a pro-league. The other Aussie pros are winners..and mental game is a part of their strategy.
