These courtroom trials aren't the forum for answering broader social issues. The charge for the jury was to determine if the prosecution proved that Zimmerman was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Nothing more, nothing less.

One thing a competent media would cover is how much the police were doing in GZ's neighborhood to prevent any further break-ins after the string that had happened. Police departments in this country focusing more on revenue grabbing traffic tickets and less on responding to break-ins might have been a theme here.
