He said there is a hole right now behind Leonard and they are looking to see what Thomas brings....

I didn't take his comment as Thomas already being given the backup sf spot. But he looks good so far.

Me either. I took it as it was a long shot but we are seeing what he can do. The spot is there so if he continues to play well it's a maybe. IMO

After hearing RC, I think they are going to keep trying to trade for a backup SF. Thomas may turn out to be a player but still only a 3rd stringer to the FO, at least for now.

I agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see Suns buyout Caron Butler and Spurs pick him up. Longshot could also be buyout of Al Harrington or trying to get Jamison on the cheap.

Blair is a free agent, what's the connection with Thomas?

This would decrease the average age of the Spurs, and worse case they can always deal or pick up someone off the waivers later in the season. I hope he makes the team. I also hope he stays aggressive and doesn't go half a fag like James Anderson did for us as the last Conference Player of the Year we had.

Translation: "If Spurs dont land Oden, Thomas will get the 15th spot & backup Kawhi!"

All he really talked about was how good the Scubs DeColo and Baynes were..And the hole behind Kawhi..

Tbh, DeShaun Thomas passes the eye test as an NBA backup SF/SG and he looks like a veteran out there in summer league. Don't see why this guy wouldn't get 10 minutes a night at SF. Bet this guy is every bit the player we wanted James Anderson to be. Not as good on defense, but he's also doing some things offensively James never did.

He just seems to be a little too slow to be guarding the SFs in this league and certainly too slow to guard the SGs!

what elite backup offensive SF's does Thomas have to guard tbh
Tayshaun Prince?
Matt Barnes
Franciso Garcia
Ronnie Brewer
Draymond Green

pretty scary list tbh
