Anyone ever been to one of these shindigs? One opened up not too far from me and I have been wanting to check it out. Do I have to bee a beer snob to go? The site says free samples.

Do you have to have a growler to hang out? Is it like a regular bar? Amazon has a growler in their daily deals today. How much do they usually run?

How is the root beer? That sounds cool for the kiddos.

You don't need a growler you can just come in and drink. If you want beer to go, bring your own growler or buy one there. I've never tried the root beer or seen anyone order it, there aren't usually kids there.

$10-15 depending on logos or no logo usually, then anywhere from $8-15 a fill depending on the beer. Not a bad deal at all.

Yes it's very common in the craftbrew business.

They're good marketing devices. At the end of the day, it's just another way to get tipsy. And we all know, getting tipsy is a great time.

Nah, I wasn't planning on taking the kids but thinking about bringing some root beer back for them. Cool, I might check it out this weekend if I am in town still.

Amazon has this 64oz one. I'm not sure if it will be this one but they are going to have a deal at about 4:00 with something similar.

Then afterward you walk a few yards north and have the greatest puffy tacos at Lee's El Taco Garage :)

I don't know much about growlers (the ones I have I didn't buy myself, and they all have logos) but that place sells a couple of different sizes and some of the plastic collapsible ones too.

I'm pretty sure that you can anywhere alcohol is served. You'll probably have to stick around until close to closing though.

i went to big hops. it was a little eh but they're new. i guess Craft & Growler up here in Dallas spoiled me. it's a way nicer place and they shoot some CO2 in your growler to preserve it a bit longer. there's a "science" to that. look it up.

Well, if you keep it out of the sunlight it's fine, but only brown glass blocks light harmful to beer. You've probably noticed most beers that tend to be skunky are in green/clear bottles.

Oh ok, I gotcha. That makes sense. The two that I liked look like this.

The screw cap ones are best IMO. The flip top ones don't always seal the best in my experience.

Cool. I'll keep that in mind. I'd like one that looks like those old XX jugs.
