Don't know if this is a dumb trade or not. No clue if the salaries match up. I feel it would totally be in favor of the Rockets, but since there are a lot of Rasho haters out there. What about a trade of Rasho for Mike James and Jon Barry.

I know it won't happen...I am just curious to see if you would take this trade as a Spurs fan.

I wouldn't other than for a Barry reunion. Mike James doesn't fulfill a need.

The Spurs would be looking for an athletic small forward in a trade.

Mike James makes too money as a third-string point guard, and Jon Barry serves no purpose.

No interest.

I dont think that would even be enticing for the Rockets.

I just know some fans were looking for a backup PG to compete with Beno, and I have no clue what Mike James make. I know he is a good energy guy off the bench like Speedy or a Darryl Armstrong.

Also, Spurs can sign JBarry using what remains of the MLE or the $1.7 or 1.8 mil exception. I think as a 12th man he'd be useful.

Rasho for Swift? But the trade you proposed wouldn't happen. The Spurs have enough guards as it is, this trade would make a logjam.

To get a NBA starting center you have to bring something more than your crap.

The way people talk on here, they would just be happy to unload him.

Fuck that trade..id rather resign Mutombo and Barry

Rasho has played next to the 2 best power forwards in the game his whole career and has done jack. Whats worse is Pop has somehow managed to brain wash the fans into thinking he's some sort of elite defender

Yes, let's trade a big man on the team (who owns Yao) to Houston, our division rival.

Mutumbo's legs are ready to snap at any second. Barry choked it off at the end of that series after all his talking on the court, he couldn't hit a wide-open shot. I would love to see Rasho, who is a very serviceable back up there. It won't happen for all the reasons stated, but he is not that bad of a player at all. And it is dumb to think that he is not a presence on the defensive end. He is not a Shawn Bradley or Ostertag, where he just gets dunked on all the time.

Rockets fans have no feel whatsoever for the nuances of the game. That's because they're only now starting to pay attention again after a decade-long slumber.

All he should be given credit for is being 7 foot tall and learning pops defensive system.

He aint that good a defender..he just knows where he needs to be. Mutombo would average 2 blocks in 10 minutes on your team

No no we pay attention all the time, its just we have more to focus on than just the Rockets. There are the Astros and Texans there. There are a lot of bandwagon fans here in SA that only care if they win. Just they can't focus on anything but maybe the Missions.

Most fans here think the NBA season starts in April. Between 1997 and 2004, most any Rocket (save maybe Francis) could have walked down the street unrecognized.

The Rockets are at best fifth in the pecking order behind the Texans, Big XII football, the Astros (who will be forgotten again once Clemens retires), and high school football. Houston is not, and will never be, a basketball town. It is a football town.

Don't forget about UH and Rice athletics. Conference USA All the Way!

Big XII football comes from transplants of Austin and A&M, and a true Houston fan does not discuss that a whole hell of a lot. I am also from Houston and go to school in SA, and I know the passion for the Spurs is great right now, but this is the way it was for the Rockets when they won the championships. I am saying that if the Spurs don't make the playoffs for a few years, I bet there are not as many "die hard fans" anymore. The only thing is these supposed fans have no where to turn to except I guess Big 12 football.

:rolleyes Whatever, buddy. Like I didn't have to listen to a bunch of bandwagon Houston fans when I was at A&M. I guess every Aggie or Longhorn in Houston is from Austin or College Station.

And the Spurs have better fans because they are the biggest game in town. Rockets are below Astros and Texans. They only were followed so closely because they were the only Houston team to actually win anything (with exception to colleges).

They outdrew a Rockets team that went to the Western Conference Finals that year.

In fact, the Rockets have never drawn as many fans, even in their championship seasons, as the Spurs drew that year, when they posted the worst record in their history.

You have to go back to the mid-'80s, when the San Antonio franchise was on the verge of collapse, and the team was full of criminals, to find the last instance the Rockets outdrew the Spurs.

Crap you hit it right on the head there, you don't have to look for a playoff abscence to notice the die hard fans falling off. Just watch the Spurs lose one game next year or the conference lead, we got bandwagoners just like every other city does(especially TPark and Spursdaone). It makes me sick to my stomach how quick they can turn their back's on their team.

Why would you advocate a trade that is 'totally in favor' of one of the biggest rivals and threats of the Spurs, just because a few people on the internet don't like a guy?

Dumb idea.
