View Full Version : Trading in My Car, Would Like Advice tbh

Huey Freeman

Currently I drive a 2010 Mustang (base), and Im wanting to traded it in. The Camaro is not an option for me tbh due to the high dash board. The Camaro is a nice car but i cant get over the dash board. I am currently looking at the Challenger and Charger, mainly the Challenger I guess. A lot of people are trying to push the Charger down my throat. At first I was unwilling to even consider a Charger but now Im a little open to it, I guess.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Ps - I'm only looking to buy an American muscle car type.

Tbh, if every fucking nigga in the metroplex didn't own a 300C then I would consider it, but the problem is they do. Nothing against the car, I mean its an alright car.

You might want to wait for the 2015 Mustang redesign. The retro look is on the way out.

I'm not in the market for a "modern" American muscle car. I drive crew cab 4X4 pickups. If I was getting a new sports car for fun I'd probably be looking at the new Jag F type. Those things are sweet.

When the fashion trend shifts again you won't be able to give those muscle car throwbacks away. They will be like the old wife beater 4th generation Camaros.

I was forced to buy a luxury car as a condition of employment after college when I was a VP for a big publicly traded company. Bought an Audi 5000. Took it in for it's 7500 mile service and they told me it was SOP that they had to pull the heads and adjust the valves or the warranty would be voided. I called Audi and they confirmed it. I was freaking furious. Car was running fine. That "warranty service" was 10% of the price of the new car. They have probably changed but after that fucking I swore I would never buy another Audi.

Never been a fan of Audi but I am sure that they have come a long way since the unintentional acceleration, problematic 5000 model…

For sedans I am staying with Japanese cars…Accord’s & Camry’s may be boring but they rarely have any mechanical issues…

I was already driving a hard loaded full size jeep Grand Wagoneer and argued that it qualified but they wanted a German 4 door luxury car and I didn't really like the SE Mercedes at the time.

Corolla has really raised the bar…I would purchase the Corolla over the current Civic...If it were me I would drive what you have for ten years…Other than oil, filters, brakes, your 1st major service is 10 years 100,000 miles….Try that with an American or German car….

I wish I had an extra 15k laying around. I've got a buddy that's trying to sell his '01 SLP Firehawk. He's a freak about taking care of it so I know it's legit. You could almost eat off the motor and it's only got like 55k miles on it.

Advice?

You have a 3 - 4 year old car; absolute WORST time to trade/sell it. You have absorbed the depreciation; the next owner is going to reap all of the value of that vehicle. It's a good car; keep it - pay it off, then drive it until you have enough money in the bank to pay cash for a 3 year old used car someone else just ate the depreciation on. If you MUST have a new vehicle, at least sell the one you have - don't trade it in. Trading just adds insult (and dealer profit) to injury.

As for a new car? A new base mustang will run neck and neck with a GT from your car's generation, and will smoke yours. Otherwise the new GT is the best bang for your buck out there (The new 'Vette stingray will give it a value run for its money, however).

If you've never done any trading in your car it may be best to start out with the standard beginner level things with people you know and trust. Have a friend sit in the passenger seat while you swap baseball cards or some other relatively small collectibles, perhaps Beanie Babies or Pogs. From there you can move up to more complicated things like drugs for sex in your backseat or someone's life for information in your trunk.

holy crap yall pay a lot. I have two vehicles, my wife and I are both insured on each vehicle, 500 dollar deductible, $50.24 a month for liability. It's with liberty mutual too, not some local cut rate crap or something. Even before the accident a few months ago, we had full coverage on one of the vehicles and it cost $124 a month. Their service has been great in dealing with this accident too.

Right now I get $2,000,000 liability, standard accident benefits, collision $500 deductible, comprehensive $300 deductible. Even when I was younger and I had my first car under my pop's plan I paid $130.
