Starting to get a few small rain bands here at the jobsite (Between Ingleside and Gregory/Portland).

Saw where the NWS is forecasting 6'-10' waves out this way. Wish my old 5'9" Hurricane tri I bought from Pat Magee's eons ago didn't have a hole in it.

On second thought, maybe it is all for the best, I always liked to see if my head was harder than the jetty.

The storm is currently exploding. It's going to be much stronger by the time it hits the coast of Mexico tonight. The banding stretches form Houston, to Victoria, down along the coast and basically encompasses the entire western Gulf Of Mexico.

We may see some rain bands later on tonight here in San Antonio.

Offically it's a CAT 1 Hurricane with winds of 95 mph. I am willing to bet money that by 4pm when the next advisory comes out, that it is back up to 110 if not 115mph.

Whats crazy is that in the Carribean this storm was very compact. They call those "tinycanes" because they are strong but in such a small area. It hit the Gulf and it's HUGE as far as area goes now.

I will still post the "funny" photos, however, I will do so only in in forums that necessitate a laugh.

A lot can be said about the past, but even more can be said about the furute.

Anyways, back on topic, as I do not feel comfortable "hijacking" a thread.

I hope the storm does not injure anyone, I will be keeping those who are in trouble in my prayers.

That is true i guess then. But the thing is, victoria doesnt keep any newscasters, they are all attention whores and they just try to show their shit off and get the F outta there. Most of them end up goign to SA or A-town or H-town

well victoria, like any other town, has property that is mostly owned by a very small rich elite, and this particularly rich family's investitures have been going to shit recently because of horrible management

they owned the mr gattis, bennigans, and all churchs chicken

mr gattis shut down cuz of health reasons and stinginess, bennigans bc of some bs, and the churches suck ass they'll be gone too

good riddance

i dont think its the economy though, many rich people live in vtown, in fact, pimpo once calculated that it might have one of the highest rich people per capita in the state

I'd agree. I used to live there in the late 90's and with the size of the population and the jobs in the area that pay well (Alcoa/Seadrift/Dow) I'd bet they have one of the higher per capita incomes in the state.

The Gulf is actually colder than the Carribean, which is why there was no one expecting this even though Emily reached a possible CAT 5 level earlier in the Carribean.

I'm excited from a "I want to know whats happening" standpoint.

But I'm worried for the people in Mexico. It is not going to be pretty but hopefully there are not that many people in that area of Mexico.

59?

Either or. There's one on 57 and one on 59. The one on 57 got upgraded not too long ago. Used to be just a guy parked on the side of the road in a Border Patrol Suburban.

If I wanted to make a little cash, I could get into the smuggling biz. Our crack border patrol agents usually wave me right on through. "White guy in a Frito Lay truck? He ain't hiding nothing. Keep rollin'. Have a nice day!"
