Gomes would be a solid SF off the bench. Play 10-12 minutes and hit some 3s. All depends if Pop wants a vet or rookie as the backup.

He has not been good for a while.
I don't ever remember him being good. Didn't he will the dunk contest though?

Da fuq? Gomes is absolute trash, that horrendous inbounds pass he threw against the Spurs a couple years ago (after nearly blowing a game against Philly a couple days before that on an inbounds pass) sums up his career, tbh...

Once he got that decent contract his shit went down hill.

Anybody else remember the NBA commercial a few years back that had a bunch of superstar players passing the ball back and forth, and suddenly Ryan Gomes was there...
"Rondo, to Kobe, to Carmelo, to Lebron, to Gomes!"

His 3pt % might rise sharply with the open looks he'd get here but he doesn't bring anything else.
Pass.

My last memory of Gomes is this play right here:

This pass wasn't a good one at all. He had skills. Maybe playing 10 minutes or less will limit mistakes?

They are the Spares now IMO, F the Spurs they are the SPARES.. I love this team but their decisions or looked at players at times make me shake my damn head.

Meh...we've won with spare tires before...I'm not stressing. We're right there every damn year...got to be a reason we sign the guys we sign.

While his stats did nosedive a bit once he joined the Clips, I'm willing to entertain the possibility that he was misused by LA's coaching staff or a bad fit with CP3. If nothing else, I'd expect his boards to return to the mean on another team.
If he were able to focus on his strengths while developing a more consistent outside game w/ Chip, I think we could do waaaaay worse for a back-up 3. Doesn't hurt that he's reportedly got a Spurs-type personality, either.

the spurs love the used car lot...it's cheaper, not as many buyers...that's just the way they do things
END CAR ANALOGY

I really liked Gomes 3-4 years ago but I don't really know/why his career as spiraled down. If he is back at his previous level, he would make a good stretch PF but Spurs don't need that unless Bonner is traded.
