View Full Version : NBA: If Fans Got To Choose How Many MVP's Would Kobe Have? I Say 7

I now realize the award means as little as All-Star game appearances: it is voted on by media members much like the ASG is a popularity contest voted on by fans.
It appears the MVP awarded regarding the following logic:
1) Best player on the team with the best record.
Or
2) Best overall player.
With me so far?
05 -06 MVP
Teams with the best record:
Detroit Pistons (64-18)
San Antonio Spurs (63-19)
Meanwhile, Steve Nash, the 05-06 MVP winner's Phoenix Suns were a paltry 54-28.
Chauncey Billups 18.5ppg, 3.1rpg, 8.6apg, 0.9spg
With the "Best player on the best team" logic, Chauncey Billups, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker were all robbed because they were more qualified candidates.
If Steve Nash was awarded MVP, he must've been the best player in the league overall?
Nash: 18.8ppg, 4.2rpg, 10.5asp, 0.8spg
In comparison to:
Kobe 35.4ppg, 5.3rpg, 4.5apg, 1.8spg
Not to mention, this was the same season Kobe dropped 81 in 4 quarters, 62 through 3 quarters outscoring an entire team by himself, etc.
So, if Steve Nash couldn't have won while he was the best player on the best team, and couldn't have won while he was the NBA's best overall player...Why did he?

If fans chose accolades, Kobe Bryant would be 10x MVP & 8x DPOY.
The NBA is wise to not let fans choose accolades.

why is the media any better than fans? Especially when the media has proven to be corrupt and inept...you still trust they made all the right voting decisions...or just want to ignore my post above and spout non-sense

The media would not have Jeremy Lin in the top 5 for his position in all star voting.

ONE of the MAIN reasons why Kobe Bryant hasn't won 4 or 5 MVP's is because of the Colorado case. The Media is controlled by White men and they hate Kobe. They don't care about his basketball skills. They only care about whether his image is marketable or not. Remember back when Kobe used to average 35 points a season and hitting all them big shots in the playoffs for LA when they had scrubs like Smush Parker and Kwami Brown on the team LMFAO? In my opinion Kobe should have at least 4 MVP's by now.
Would LeTravel James still be the NBA's Golden Boy? Come on man the man can't even get to the basket without traveling. In terms of pure Basketball skills Kobe is second to none and any Basketball purist will tell you that. Kobe has been the BEST PURE Basketball player since 2001. Taking a trash team made of players like Kwame Brown and Smush Parker into the Playoffs should have earned Kobe a Congressional Medal of Honor. LOL..

05-06 Kirby was arguably the best player in the league due to his scoring ability, but multiple players averaged over 30 ppg and Kirby didn't even score the most points despite his huge ppg
Iverson averaged 33 ppg on 45% FG(league leader in total points) with 3.2 rebs, 7.4 ast and 1.9 stls per game, individually arguably better than Kirby, though his team only won 38 games. Basically both players scored a lot of points with Iverson being the better playmaker but neither of them could win many games. I don't see how Kirby deserved the MVP that year. Obviously benefited from the rule changes.

Kobe should have won MVPS in these seasons:
2002-2003 - Avg 30 ppg 6.9 rebs 5 assts
2005-2006 - Avg 35 ppg 5rebs 4 assts
2006-2007 - Avg 31 ppg 6 rebs 4 assts
2007-2008 - Avg 28 ppg 5 rebs 5 assts - Only Time he won MVP
Kobe should have 4 MVPS under his belt right now, but since MVP is a media worthy award, Kobe was very mislooked. Its okay, Kobe is all about winning and his titles will put him over the top when its all said and done.

There is no entertainment in watching Jeremy Lin. If fans voted for accolades, then we would see the players with the biggest fan base get the most accolades. Kobe Bryant would win DPOY if he head the league in turnovers.

Flawed logic on your part, a lot of players have clauses in their contracts giving them extra money for making or starting in the All-Star Game.... if the Chinese vote-spammers had managed to get Lin in, a superior player with that clause might have been fucked over, tbh....

Do you not see how the point of accolades would deteriorate, then? Instead of it rewarding skill, it rewards popularity. What percent of fans, do you believe, actually appreciate and understand defense?

LeBron was my MVP that year too. Cavs had a 50 win season too. However Kobe, Dirk and Billups were are all better choices than Nash.

Even this past season shows what a complete joke the award is...
Kobe averaged 27 pts, 6 Rbs 6.0 Assists
Lebron averaged 26. pts, 8.0 Rbs and 7 assists
Kobe's numbers are right there with LeBron's, and yet he finished behind Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and CP3. MVP voters are saying that CP3 avg 17. pts, 9 assists and 3 rebounds per game had a better year than Kobe Bryant..the Lakers as team had they're worst season ever and the Clippers had their best season ever and it still resulted in only a first round exit for the Clippers...and yet I'm supposed to take MVP voting seriously?
