You brought it up by making the assumption that everything is rosy, and that Pop and Manu can do no wrong. You should read Plato's Myth of the Cave. Perhaps you will learn to look at more than the shadows.

So Pop and Manu's legacies are entirely ruined because we didn't win the finals this year? That's the irrational message I consistently get from Debbie-downers such as yourself.

I thank God you're not running the FO if that's seriously how you'd treat two guys that have played integral roles in us winning multiple championships and making deep playoff runs.

1 game short of a finals victory and these two guys deserve to be hated on? Pull your head out of your arse!

Manu should've left when he had the chance in his prime time instead of stuck as a bench player all these years. Hey then we wouldn't have to worry about blaming him when we don't win a championship. Too late for that though.

Yep, I do love them for the past and what they have done here, but sometimes I live in the now and I wanted them to save some of the money the spent in the offseason on him (Even Manu fans admit it's a bad contract and too much) to get some needs and pay him for his recent play, but he got a home cooking contract and it's based on his past and we owe you for what you did for the franchise type of deal, he is not worth over 7 million. Pop messed up a few times, love him as a coach but he seems to have lost his edge in a few areas and calmed down too much.

I love Manu and Pop for what they have done as we all should, but looking at the here and now I am alot of times. If you can't show up in a game 6 and 7 on the biggest stage why are you going to show up next year and beyond? I can't see it unless his role drastically changes.
One of the best coaches ever and one of the best six man ever

I usually argue with you but I have to agree here 100%, truth.

People aren't criticizing you for appreciating Pop and Manu. Rather, people call you out because you make up the other end of the spectrum (opposite of TGY). You display yourself as a homer currently in a menstraul cycle process. Your fag ass username doesn't help you either.

This "softness" you speak of only begun when spoiled brat "fans" such as yourself bombarded these forums with whining threads that have no substance or valid arguments behind them.

It appears that your kind of posters are allergic to people who don't hate Pop, Manu, or TP.

None of us EVER said these 3 guys were perfect in the finals. But you guys act like if they don't play 7 games of perfection, they deserve to be harshly criticized. The fact of the matter is, we were seconds away from a finals victory. Losing sucks, but it doesn't mean our team is incompetent or that we need to whine and complain about particular individuals who we would NOT have been able to get this far without.

How about you stop calling out people who APPRECIATE how well our team did this season, and maybe take some notes on how to be a fan. I would much rather be seconds away from a championship than losing in the conference finals or earlier, tbh.

Spurs could of and should of gotten 1st place but Pop & Manu got in the way. Why would you want nothing but Spurs homers on these forums? Do you not realize how boring this website would be without the opposition? If you seriously can't handle objective fans that criticize your home team then what's stopping you from visiting another website such as SR or PTR? If NOT HATING on this team 24/7 like you and your minions do makes me a homer, then hell, I'm a homer!

I love how you honestly you're being a reasonable, objective fan that criticizes his team. I don't consider talking crap about all-time great Spurs and wishing they'd be gone as being a reasonable fan.

The Spurs aren't the Dallas Cowboys. This organization had actually accomplished a whole hell of a lot doing things this way: keeping the same core. If this was a Cowboys forum, I'd have no problem with what you're doing. I complain about the current Cowboys squad and criticize Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett all the time.

But there are all-time greats on this Spurs squad. There arent any on the Cowboys right now. If you were a Cowboys fan (I don't know if you are), you'd be one of those that was sick and tired of Tom Landry and wishing he'd be removed in the late 80's. On the other side... That's an entirely different situation. Aikman, Smith, and Irvin don't play on defense.

You continually refuse to acknowledge Pop had a defensive strategy set up that by sheer bad luck didnt work. This strategy has worked before (I.e. close out warriors game). It was a matchup situation. Are you saying that when an opponent puts 5 players on the court that can shoot the 3, you're supposed to put 5 post players on the floor because they're supposed to rebound the ball when the opposition automatically misses the first 3. Please.

You assume that the EXACT situation would have occurred if Duncan was on the court, and he would rebound the ball. You don't seem to realize that that possession would have played out differently.

But what if the Heat instead made their first attempt at a 3, with Duncan on the court? You guys would be hating on Pop for not sending a better matchup of mobile players on the court to defend the 3.

I'm fully convinced now...you truly dont know basketball and just have homerism for Pop and Manu. To counter your post...guess who does know defense...Tim Duncan. So why did Pop sit him with 28 seconds to go and a title on the line? Once again...Tom Landry and Jimmy Johnson would not bench their best defensive player with a Super Bowl on the line. You cant win this argument regardless how hard you try and spin it. Popovich made the worse coaching decision with an NBA title on the line in NBA history. Bar none.

Just look at the way the apologists were blaming Bonner and Neal for every loss that we had during the playoffs yet when Pop and Manu shat the bed in Game 6, they all conveniently spread the blame on the team.

No matter how many facts and arguments one presents to the apologists, they will spread the blame on the team just so that they can sleep better. Pop and Manu fucked up the most therefore they are the most responsible for one of the worst heartbreaking losses in NBA finals history.

It's that simple. The lineup Pop used screwed up defensively and rebounding. TD is one of the best defenders and rebounders in NBA history. How do you not play him in that situation? Any coach would love to have a Hall of fame defensive player when they're trying to close a game defensively. Also if Pop was really concerned about TD's mobility, Splitter was probably the next best option defensively.

Another point your missing. Is that it wasn't simply luck at play. As Pop has said they made some defensive mistakes.

Pop is great, and Manu will still be a very solid player for the Spurs.

Manu is getting too much hate here for 6 and 7. Pop is more to blame, because it was blatantly obvious that Manu was in a terrible funk and Pop continued to play him.

Don't underestimate Manu...ever!! There isn't a player in professional sports that is more competitive that Manu...he will find a way to reconfigure his game to his aging body and have a very good season next year. I have no doubts.

1. No one is apologizing for anyone, you are making things up again, :troll

2. The WHOLE team made mistakes regardless of who made the most and least mistakes, but you just want to cast blame on a select few (as if you were perfect) and :deadhorse

3. It has already been shown to NOT be one of the worse losses in the Spurs history, but you are so dense you fail to see this fact! When in fact the Spurs were not even supposed to make it as far as they did, yet they did, and almost won it all. Thus you should be looking on the positive side of things, instead you harp on the negative. This just shows you are juvenile, insecure, and immature! Get a life, or go back to school and learn something useful and by all means Grow Up!

Skull-1 is pretty much the bottom of the barrell when it comes to meaningful posts. I've seen these same types of posts on other threads before. All he does is cheer on his spoiled brat fan buddies and spout out the occasional cursing storm to "solidify" his stance.

Haven't observed xmas1997 long enough to make a valid conclusion but its not really possible to be a lousier poster than skull-1.

Actually I'm trying to stay out of the debate, or rather Manu Pop bashing, even though we can't seem to have a single thread on here lately without someone bashing either of them, and beating a dead horse and turning the thread away from the original topic.
Isn't that what trolls do?

Yeah, it seems like on every single thread, even if its about apples, a Pop/Manu will come around and say something like "it's Pop/Manu's fault the apples are rotten!"

I'm accused of being this and that, and then bashed for having an opinion that is contrary to theirs irregardless of the facts.
And that isn't really not to be expected, after all it is a sports forum. But when you are bombarded by totally idiotic and close minded statements that even a dunce can see is false and one sided, it makes you wonder how some people can get along in life.
The trolls are out in force this offseason disguised as Spur fans. It's like Sauron opened the gates of Mordor and expelled all his Orc rejects, or all the loony toons and fruit cakes have been let loose of the asylum!:downspin:
