I heard Heat and Spurs were in mix if Mo Williams decides to go with contender. No surprise if Grizz are in mix too, as @ESPNSteinLine (https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine) said.

That'd be pretty amazing at this point tbh. I don't see a scenario where he picks the Spurs over Miami though if they're both offering around the same amount.

Nothing of substance; just speculation, which means it probably won't happen.

The Heat are already well covered in the PG position with Cole and Chalmers. Choosing the Spurs over the Heat would be a no-brainer for Mo Williams imo UNLESS the Heat offer him the starting job as the PG.

The Spurs really don't have the means to give Williams a big contract unless they pull of a really complicated trade that involves absorbing at least one of Utah's other contracts to make the cap space necessary. If the Spurs still had their MLE, they could probably be the front-runner. I'd take Williams and Neal over just Belinelli any day.

Dont see him reuniting with Lebron
hell probably end up signing with a team other then the Spurs or Grizz tbh

Streaky shooter that doesn't play defense. Eh. If he comes cheap I'd do it.

If the spurs were really interested, the only way would have been a sign and trade with Utah for Neal...Jazz don't have a lot of guards, don't want Williams back (he could spoil Burke) and Neal is younger. Now, imho, it's too late.

Cory Joseph > Mo Williams.
On O, I'd have to go with Mo. That said, I'm talking about current levels. CJ's D is already better, and he should still get better on the other side of the ball. So yes, I agree with you!
BTW, I think Mo goes to Miami. He was pretty close with Lebron back in Cleveland. And I'm not sure if people have forgotten, but wasn't he the guy who begged Lebron not to leave Cleveland?

Spurs are in mix for every single free agent and no one goes to them... Mo and Oden will probably sign in Miami.

I'm down with CoJo at this point. He sure isn't flashy, but I think hes the better pick.

Given a full season backing up TP, IMHO he'll do just fine if they make the playoffs.

If we make the playoffs? We're coming off a conference title and we're bringing back all the contributors from last season with the exception of Gary Neal. If we aren't a top 3 seed we're a bust. But the only way we miss the playoffs is an act-of-God string of season-ending injuries at the beginning of the year.

Agree that CoJo will do just fine as the backup PG this year.

Exactly! They have to remain healthy and that is not a given, for any team, and especially the older ones.

I doubt anyone is saying Cojo is presently better than Mo, but most of us think he will be good enough to do the backup PG slot just fine, plus I doubt he complains about not being the starter, nor asks for starter salary.

Probably trying to build the best roster possible - and just not bothering to publicly refute when these players' agents float the Spurs' name (with the league knowledge that Spurs are arguably the best team when it comes to player evaluation) in an effort to drum up greater interest in their clients.

Not that outlandish. CoJo is already a much better defender. He held his own in a deep playoff run, not showing any real chinks in the armor until Game 4 of the Finals.
Then take into account that Williams has been a playoff choker through much of his career. CoJo's 13.2 postseason PER this year wasn't anything special - but still better than Williams' 12.8 career postseason number. William's only adequate playoff season came when he's playing undersized SG, as a PG he's been pretty terrible when it counts the most.
And Spurs know they can get through regular season with CoJo/Nando playing backup PG. If you're going to add somebody who essentially ends their development, it's gotta be a playmaker who can handle intense pressure D (essentially what we looked like we were going to get out of TJ Ford).

In the Spurs unhealthiest year of the Duncan era, 2009-2010, they still kept their 50 win streak alive and were the 7th seed. I can't see them not making the playoffs unless Duncan AND Parker go down for the year. If only one of the big three go down, the system alone will get them into the playoffs.

I hope you're right, but after many many years watching the Spurs, I've learned to take nothing for granted, especially when it comes to good luck, or good health.

Maybe. We will in March/April once Cory Joseph had a full regular season as backup PG behind him. I think it won't be that laughable at that time.

Glad someone "somewhat (maybe?)" agrees with me.
Hopefully not. Think Spurs need to see what they have in Cojo, DeColo, and Mills. Focus should be on that SF.

I think you missed my point. By injuries I was implying multiple ACL tears to core players. ie, things that would put us in the Wiggins Lottery and imply that God hates us. Because we could lose Duncan for the year and still make the playoffs. Or possibly even Parker. But both....now it's getting pretty unlikely.
But frankly, we're not missing the playoffs. And thinking that theres a good chance that we will is pretty damn silly.

Too many teams interested for R.C. There's no way he signs here over Miani. The Spurs would almost certainly have tl sign and trade with Utah involving Matt Bonner and the Spurs have been down that road before.

I just don't think Spurs are confident on CoJo being the full time back up. Yeah he's good playing 10-15 minutes but that doesn't make you a quality 2nd pg. He's a 3rd string player.
My reason for that is if Parker goes down I don't think he can handle 30mpg...why it would help his growth as a player it'd be a big blow on the Spurs competing for a top seed or championship. Mo on the other hand can be a quality starting pg if needed. He's not ideal but he can get the job done.
Another reason I'd want Mo is if an injury occurs to Manu or Beli...he's capable of being a 6th man maybe even one of the best. Just gives the Spurs a lot of options and keeps them from throwing CoJo in the fire. Let him get a full season under his belt being with the team before I hand the keys to the kid...
Spurs are just tooooo close to a title for him to be playing serious minutes

I like Cory over all the other options we currently have but he isn't better than Mo Williams. Defensively Mo might have some problems but he's improved in that area. Opposing defenses would get no time off having to go from Parker to Williams every night.
Joseph was very meh in the Summer League once again.

No more freaking guards please. Sours have enough shooters...especialy don't need no D chuckers.
Sours now only have 1 consistent slasher on this team.

People who are saying Cory Joseph is better than Mo Williams is a complete idiotic homer. Cory joseph will never have the skills to sniff 6 assists per game, let alone 12 points per game on average. That said, he may be a better player defensively, but at this point in time, the Spurs are better off having an option at the PG spot that can provide bench scoring and play making than a PG scrub that can play decent defense.

Maybe. We will see in April/May and maybe even June, when it really matters. I think it will be laughable at that time.
As for Williams, yeah right. Do the Spurs ever sign someone like Williams? I suspect he picks the Grizzlies and then they trade Bayless to the 76ers.

Would way rather have Mo as a backup than DeColo or Joseph..They may have decent D?..But neither one of them can get the ball up the court without being picked..And cannot score either, if you all remember we just lost Neal. And that alone is about 9-10 pts a game that won't be there next year

Joseph is still an unknown.
He was in way over his head against Miami. The future is clear as mud for Corey IMO. I don't know if he can generate enough offense on his own to garner any kind of respect in big games. Put Williams on our bench against Miami and we are a better team. This means squat for the upcoming season of course.
