Well there goes Chargers #1 WR

Was never meant to be for DX, his knees are time bombs. Would be a pro bowler for sure if he could have 2-3 healthy years.

Good thing we're still pretty good at WR.

If any starting O-line men get injuries, Clowney is ours.

Swearinger had problems with hitting helmet to helmet in college and is quoted as saying he felt he cost his team games with penalties. He's adjusted his game to go low. He's just a kid and will learn from this and find some middle ground. Besides, if you watch the gif it's a perfectly timed series of events. If he gets there half a second sooner he merely upends Keller and nothing is ever said.

That's gonna happen more with Goodell changing the rules where you can't hit high.

Exactly. Unintended consequences and all that. Used to be a "clean tackle" was facemask-to-facemask and going low was considered the dirty play. Now it's been reversed.

Put your shoulder into his shoulder like you're supposed to. Ducking your head is never the proper way to tackle. Also, you can only not hit high when the player is defenseless. Yes, the refs are going to blow some close calls but that's officiating.

I'm just sick of all these players (and fans) blaming Goodell when the players are to blame because they really only care about highlight tackles and have forgotten all fundamentals. Just look at that gif...no coach would ever teach that.

Trill Clinton
08-19-2013, 02:16 PM
i can see both sides of the argument and i think its a combination of players not wanting to go up high and also just piss poor tackling technique. db's are the worst when it comes to good form tackling where they wrap up.

I drafted Rice, Vereen, Lacy and Moreno. So you can only imagine having 3 backs go down, and being stuck with a guy who wasn't even getting the bulk of the carries at the time as your premier back :lol Luckily, Lacy is back, and Moreno is playing well. Obviously I dropped Vereen, and Rice is riding the pine.

In thread related news, the Seahawks have resigned our former pro bowl fullback Michael Robinson because Derrick Coleman's hamstring is more severely damaged than previously projected, and Spencer Ware was placed on IR (Ankle). No word on the severity of the injury for Coleman yet. But, Robinson (A former captain) was cut primarily to cap concerns IMO. If I'm not mistaken he was owed 2.5 million this year.

Jermaine Kearse will get a lot more playing time. Even though he has some growing up to do. He did catch a game winning 43 yard TD pass earlier this year VS Carolina, so hopefully he can build on that going forward. Even when Percy comes back, he'll likely have to ease his way into a heavy snap total, so Kearse and Baldwin will have to play well in the mean time.

If he understands the playbook he won't have to be eased in. The WR position is not a defensive player or OL where they're virtually guaranteed to be in on a hit every play. Besides, most of his plays will be quick-outs anyway to get him in space where he's most dangerous.

Baldwin is probably the steadier of the two but he's had difficulty getting separation in the slot and that is going to hamper him. Percy will alleviate some of that but it is definitely on Kearse and Baldwin because Harvin's track record is not one to be totally confident in. My FF WR corps has been a meat wagon for sure. Julio Jones, James Jones, and Reggie Wayne were at one point part of my FF team.

The ease I'm referring to is more directed towards his inexperience. But, he has showed nice growth from last season, so I'm hoping that continues.

I agree. Percy isn't an X, slot all the way. Which in theory should push Baldwin to a much lower snap count later in the year if Kearse steps up.

Wow, your WR core is decimated. I've had my share of injuries as well. Vereen, Cutler, Sam Bradford, Ray Rice with his nagging hip, the Lacy concussion early on this year. It's a two QB league.

I started out strong as well, then dropped a few. But, once Lacy came back, and Moreno began to get the bulk of the load, I climbed back to .500. My receivers are carrying me, Salsa/A.J/Keenan Allen. I have Harvin on my bench, so I'm hoping he goes off from week 12 on and I can make a run at it. Ray Rice says he's on the mend, so that would do wonders for my RB depth.

they also lost leon hall last week, so they are considerably worse than they were just a week ago. They could have been the most stacked team in the AFC in the play offs, but now they are just the bengals.. Ray Maululaga, too..Justin Blackmon suspended for the remainder of the season. Not sure if that's a meatwagon nominee that is correct but if you have had to play on the Jags I guess you deserve a medal or should be allowed to be on crack...

I think just Breno. If I'm not mistaken, Okung must sit out one more week no matter what. 8 week IR. But I don't even think Breno will be ready in just one week.

With that powder puff schedule (not their fault, but it is what it is) they don't have to play another real team till Week 13...their first test since Indy. All 3 (Percy) should be back by then.

I don't know how he's surviving tbh. Getting pressured at an astronomically high rate far above league average. Last week was ridiculous, the worst week was probably VS the Texans. But with all the injuries I think we'll peak later in the season offensively.

I think the Hawks deserve some credit for being consistent, and finding a way to win. The Colts dropped a game to Miami, and the Saints lost to the Jets. And those first two wins of the season are shaping up to be real wins based on the performance of those teams.

I give credit for the 49ers win no doubt. Seahawks are approaching Daddy-status when it comes to SF. Carolina's D is the real deal but we'll find out if that team's worth a shit in the next 3 weeks. Seattle's legit, nobody's denying that--just making an observation about the schedule.

The past four weeks have definitely been a much needed soft patch in the schedule, that's for sure. And you're right, the jury is still out on Carolina. Where would you put the Panthers if they get a road win VS the Niners?

It's amazing how good Rodgers is and how valuable he is to GB. I can only think of Brady and Luck when it comes to another player whose health is so vital to their team--and even they pale in comparison to Rodgers. Those 3 games would be easy, double-digit wins--but now we're talking about a possible 4-game losing streak

If they pull that off it would be foolish to ignore them at that point. That's why the next 3 games are a big litmus test. @SF, NE (coming off a bye), and @Miami (middling team, but a game opponent). They win 2/3 then respect will be paid

Really? Last year was fine. This year, not so much. The Seahawks have been without Okung since the middle of week 2 VS the Niners. Breno was gone pretty much a week later. And Unger has been in and out of the lineup all year. That's three starting OL, 2 of which are tackles (LT and RT), the other, the Center. We've had Guards playing tackle and getting killed. I've posted the stats numerous times on the amount Wilson has been pressured which is 10% above league average, highest in the league. Basically 50% of all passing attempts LOL. The stats reflect it, and it's pretty much a consensus aside from those that just hate for the sake of hating, which I get because Avante has caused most of the Wilson hating :lol Everybody seems to hate Avante.

The Cardinals' Honey Badger, Tyrann Mathieu, may be out for the season plus a few more games next season for likely having a torn ACL from the game against the Rams on Sunday.
