Turned on the tv this morning and heard the news, he complained about having these bad stomach aches and was taken to the hospital where he shortly died after.

Wtf, how the hell can that happen sons.

Shocking and very sad. One of the best players America has had. :(

Shocking and very sad. One of the best players America has had. :(What caused his stomach aches? was it poor eating habits? I sincerely doubt that was the reason, he was rich after all, or was it just one of those moments nobody expects.

At least he went out with glory.:depressed

Apparently it was appendicitis. They took too long to treat him.

Another source is citing a possible peritonitis.

Like Iron said, supposedly they took 2 hours to attend him, when he took the first trip to the hospital he got sent back home with medication, the aches continued and that's when he took the 2nd trip, but now it was too late. Poorly medical treatment? Dunno, I'm still in disbelief someone like he could die.

shit happens and the lack of care FIFA shows towards players' health is becoming more obvious and annoying after the tragedy of Benitez tbh. Dude ain't the first soccer player who died of heart attack, which can mostly be traced back to the exhausting schedule and heavy workload. vivien foe, Mvamba (who almost died but thankfully survived, though his soccer playing career was ended because of it), and now a new name added to that shortlist.

also it's a bad news to Ecuador national team. Dude was their 2nd best player, only behind Antonio Valencia
