What will you be hoisting? I don't drink IPAs but I'm sure I can find something to celebrate with :toast

I've got a few Russian River Pliny the Elder's I'll be cracking tonight, along with a 22 of Avery Maharaja. Maybe finish off with a little Pappy Van Winkle.

Hmmm, the "Hop" in the title is what scares me. I can't handle the lingering aftertaste of hops.

I'm no where close to being a beer aficionado. But we went to a local restaurant called "Magic Mushroom" and they had some bottles of a limited run of Stone RuinTen IPA. It was the best beer I had in my life. We ended up tracking down a store that had some bottles and bought the 20 that they had. Even the regular run (whatever it's called) is pretty good.

Prefer their Racer X over this, you tried it?

Just tried this about a month ago on draft, really really good. Didn't realize how much the alc % was until after two pints. Didn't taste that strong at all.

Nah, only tried the Racer 5 and the Hop Rod. leemajors keeps recommending Racer X too. Cali has by far my fav beer in the world with Stone, Bear Republic, and Sierra Nevada, and Anchor ain't too bad either (wasn't too impressed with a Lagunitas IPA I had though).

I agree. It's one of the few beers I've actually enjoyed drinking during a meal.

The IPA's don't really do it for me...if I'm going to drink beer I tend to go for something heartier...

With Lagunitas I only look for their limited release IPA's. Their Undercover Investigation Shut Down ale is damn good.

Just personal preference. If I'm gonna drink beer I'd rather go with a malty darker ale, or porter or stout. I generally do red wine socially but I'm not particularly a wine snob. I appreciate great wine but I'm cool with moderately priced decent table wines too. My go to summer maintenance buzz is Tito's and diet 7up.

I gotcha. I just wasn't sure what you meant by "heartier". IPAs can be pretty hardy. I usually prefer a smoother dark ale, if I want a break from the IPAs.

New Dogtown from Lagunitas is great tbh, awesome place to visit too. BB you would like Firestone Walker as well.

Firestone's single barrel ale in the yellow bottle is one of my favorite pale ales, Union Jack is a tasty IPA as well.

Whats up with the ankle biting? Have I somehow offended you and don't remember it? And FWIW my employees are a pretty standard demographic mix for San Antonio.

You ever tried Rogue Chocolate Stout? That stuff is incredible.

My second favorite stout is probably Snake River Zonker, but I think you can only get it in Wyoming and Montana.

Yeah we started getting Ballast Point earlier this year. Good stuff, but it's $8.99 a bomber here and $12.99 for a sixer.

My favorite is Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro---it's like liquid velvet. One of my favorite porters is Wasatch Polygamy Porter. Both are available at most HEBs. For something real hearty CC, you might want to try Ranger Creek's Mesquite Smoked Porter---it's almost chunky!

It's the same price here and I live 30 mins from the brewery.

They've got a habenero Scuplin and a chipotle Black Marlin porter out here on tap that are awesome. Can only really handle one pint at a time though.

My buddy brought back a growler of the habanero Sculpin from the very bottom of the keg, it was pretty damn good and damn hot. We have some local iPA's here I am a huge fan of that are several bucks cheaper, so I usually go for those when buying to take home. I'm surprised it's the same price, we usually get charged more in TX for Cali beers.

Red Rocket is my fave from Bear Republic

That said, I have three double-deuce's of Black Racer, as well as sixer's of my new Carolina go-to, Hoppyum, and Lagunitas' Undercover shut-down.

Gonna be a satisfying evening

Not a fan, though I really like the 60 Minute. Palo Santo Marron is my favorite Dogfish Head.
