He says his goal is to be a NBA Superstar and he will begin working out next week. So far he has been resting. Also says he will never get over the loss in the Finals, but understands that it is basketball and sometimes you lose.

For as much flak as Kawhi gets for not being good with the media, the dude always says exactly the right things

I love this guy!!!!

I love how he sets his standards high he wants to be a NBA Superstar and he is willing to put the work into it and he has a great head on his shoulders. He even said his goal is to be an All-Star this season and I think he will do it considering he will have some plays ran for him. He said he wants to be more efficient, but at this rate he is very efficient. I assume that once he gets more touches in offense, his efficiency will go down a little but he will improve tremendously and the experience will be huge come playoff time.

Must be tough on him knowing that he could have wrapped up a title with that free throw. I don't blame him for the loss though. We wouldn't have even been in that position without him and I'm sure he's motivated to get back there and seal the deal. He's our future. Love the guy.

While his 1 ft would have helped, it wouldn't have wrapped up anything..anyone that know basketball, should know this. Still was plenty of time left.

The Heat had no timeouts left, assuming Ray Allen hits the 3 they are down one and have to foul. Even if we miss both they have to get all the way down court to score. Obviously it could happen but it would be 99.9999% over.

Honestly something that isn't mentioned as much as it should about the collapse, that was just as costly as any missed FT or rebound, was game clock awareness/management. On those 2 costly TOs by LeBron in game 6, Spurs immediately started the fast break, they had the lead, no need to score quickly. Force the Heat to foul and/or get a stop while you run the clock.

Blaming Kawhi for the finals loss might be the dumbest opinion ever expressed on these forums, tbh.

Big question after the Finals, do you think Pop will change any late game decisions/strategy, such as fouling, going into next season/playoffs?

You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ears though. Have no doubt about dude's workrate and determination but I don't think he was born with the talent of a superstar, nor does he play in a big market where the media would hype him into a superstar. He will be a durable version of the prime Josh Howard but you never expect a player like him to lead your team imho.

Knowing Pop, I'd say no. Stick with the system and trust that it'll prevail if put in similar situations. But who knows, he changed his rotations a little so anythings possible.

That's not enough, IMO. Team needs another renaissance season from Duncan, which is kind of sad considering I'm still expecting a lot from Duncan for our championship aspirations.

My sentiments, exactly. I'll never understand why some people even mention his missed ft. He gets a pass since we won't be in a position to have an opportunity to wrap up the game without his contributions on both ends.

This video made me realize that Kawhi actually dunks with authority, although it might seem that he's not looking to do so. Man, really excited to see what he'd be like in his 3rd year. Not gonna say he's gonna be a beast or anything, as I don't wanna get head of myself. I'd very much rather sit back, relax and enjoy everything as his 3rd season unfolds. :toast

The interview and his quiet life off the court show he's a humble guy.
Buck on Johnny Football Manziel vs Kawhi Leonard is a good read about how Kawhi responds to fame and the media better than other young players.

Notice how he says he just wants to get better, everything is fine with the knee and that it's up to me.

I told you all, there is nothing wrong with Kawhi, he just has some real UNFINISHED BUSINESS, the USA Team can wait.

I can't lie, I was really hoping somehow Kawhi would've gotten a ring and maybe even a finals MVP after his 2nd year. Who would that have reminded you all of? If Spurs did manage to win the championship, I definitely would've rather had Duncan or Kawhi win it than anyone else.

F in shit, that damn FINALS loss again :( I guess none of us will ever get over it from the fans to the players. I still hate it man. I understand it's a game too and you lose some, stings though.

I hope he is a superstar and achieves his goal! Work Ethic can take you to another height, we will need it!

I don't doubt that he will, but it would've been so cool to see him win a championship and Finals MVP in his 2nd year in the league just like Tim Duncan did in 99.

Howard had the skillset to be very special, in 06 he was pretty scary! He never had the head on his shoulders though or the work ethic or the durability as you said! I think he can be better than Howard, but even then I will take that if he can last.

That 3 by LeBron seconds before put them in that position, obviously the missed FT by Kawhi paved the way for the tying Ray Allen 3 but I thought that 3 by LeBron was an even huger shot for Miami. Spurs still had another shot at the NBA title in game 7 and couldn't pull it off, Miami was fortunate things went their way in game 6. The Spurs need to play better in 2014 and stronger to get that 5th NBA title no matter who they play!
