Malone might have served jail time had her family asked the district attorney to file criminal charges.Bell didn’t even know Malone was his father until after graduating from high school. When they finally met, Malone told the 18-year-old Bell it was too late to be his father, and that Bell would have to “earn his money on his own.”In a 1998 story in the Salt Lake (Utah) Tribune, Gloria Bell said, “Demetrius is ashamed that his dad doesn’t claim him. But I’ve told him it is not his fault.”

I don't know all the facts of the story, but why should Karl Malone try to be like a father/give his "son" money? He doesn't know the kid, and never met him til he was basically an adult. Malone was a 19 year old trying to get his dick wet (even with a 13 yr old, right or wrong) and I'm sure if given the chance he would've had the kid aborted, and the mom should've aborted the kid anyways since being a mom @ 13 is just ridiculous. I'm not saying you shouldn't have to pay the consequences of knocking a girl up, but it was 18 years too late to do anything about it.

If I was that kid, I wouldn't want anything to do with my dad if he wasn't around during my youth. His ONLY reason for even meeting/developing a relationship with Malone would be to get money from him and I'm sure The Mailman is smart enough to see past that.

Well, Bell has his money now. Obviously, he doesn't have a lot, but at least Malone gave him the athleticism to get millions.
