My boy Duffner is around at 2 under, hopefully he can finally get a major after that playoff loss a couple years ago

Tiger choking in the majors as usual. Who the hell would have thought you'd be able to say that back in 2008 when it was a foregone conclusion he was taking Nicklaus' majors record? :lol

Tiger almost missed a tap in....lol...he was frustrated he missed a 10 ft putt by about less than an inch, goes to tap it in and putter (I think) hits the ground first and slows acceleration, the ball just barely rolls in lol...I'll find the gif.

I hate Tiger, dumbass :lol. Brasky is the Tiger fan in here (and he's not a bandwagoner)

Watching Tiger play well really is one of my guilty pleasures :lol sorry if I'm ever obnoxious about that.

That said, it's obviously a mental thing for him in majors. There's just no reason for him to not have won one this year playing as well as he has. This whole "I'm putting myself right there, I'll get one eventually" mentality is just so bizarre. What happened to "I'm confident that I can win every week I tee it up" Tiger? Like I've been saying, look at how well Adam Scott is striping it and how much confidence he has in these events. He just oozes that "swagger". Stevie Williams is underrated in that he gets his guy engaged and in the right mindset to play major championship golf. Fucking hats off to that dude and hats off to Adam for finally figuring it out. He's always been a great player(really annoying broomstick putter withstanding).

That said, way to go Duf. I really like how laid back and chill he is, makes for a great golfer. I'm rooting for him to take it.

symple19
08-10-2013, 07:37 AM
nah, you're not obnoxious. Everybody I know who follows golf loves Tiger (especially my Dad and Uncle), so i'm used to being the only hater.

Duf is awesome. Probably impossible to find anyone that has a bad word to say about the guy. He's one of the best from tee to green, but too often his putter fails him. Yesterday was a great example of what he can be when it's working on the greens.

The leaderboard is packed with guys that could still win it. I'm eagerly anticipating one of the best weekends for a major in a long time. Lots of scoring and lots of guys with a chance = great fun to watch...Gotta think that the winner will be around -12 or possibly even lower. Usually that sucks(in majors), but it sets up this weekend so that you may have 5+ guys in that range. They may get crazy with pin placement and make it really difficult, but with the course playing so softly, there are low numbers out there to be had.

Jim Furyk just dropped a nice 15 footer on 17. I think I'm going to jump off the Dufner wagon( can't stand that nasty chew habit), and root for Furyk.

Wonder if Adam will still be performing this well without an anchored putter, when that goes into effect.

Couldn't have been more wrong about today, lol. Stiff breeze, tough pin placement, and it looked a lot more like the Oak Hill of old.

C'mon Duf!

But I would be happy with any of those guys at the top of the board, especially Furyk and Stricker

Will Jim Furyk and Phil Mickelson become the first fortysomethings to win back-to-back majors since Jack Nicklaus and Ray Floyd? :lol Watching Tiger flail about the course, from treeline to treeline, on the early TNT coverage :lol

24/48 fairways hit :lmao :lmao

The thing is, its all in his head. Seems like when things don't go his way early (like they did last week) he's unable to pull himself together. Other than Duval, I can't recall a guy falling off so far relative to his peak. Amazing

Isn't this a horrible course for Tiger with how skinny the fairways are and how that nullifies his driver? I thought I saw his prime years scores were garbage at Oak Hill also.

They were. Last time he played Oak Hill he had 6 birdies for the entire week. Of course, that didn't stop the media from getting all excited after Firestone.

On the last few awful drives, he's been acting like he's hurt or something. I don't buy it. Think the dude is embarrassed and is trying to save face. How about leaving the driver in the bag? Hit fucking 3 metals or 2 irons off the tee instead of doing odd jobs for the forest service all day

So am I the only one who wants the people who yell stupid shit right after a shot to die in a fiery inferno?

Apparently not http://deadspin.com/ian-poulter-currently-winding-people-up-trolling-how-1102091685

Ian Poulter had a rough go of it at the PGA Championship—not as rough as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson did (http://deadspin.com/who-had-the-worse-shitty-week-tiger-or-phil-1101551723), but bad enough that he was well out of contention on Sunday. This has allowed him ample time to air out fans who yell things at golf tournaments, and get a response from Howard Stern.

RT @Gibbons_89 (https://twitter.com/Gibbons_89) @IanJamesPoulter (https://twitter.com/IanJamesPoulter) do people who shout things like "mashed potato" irritate pros? >> yes they are bell ends.

— Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) August 10, 2013 (https://twitter.com/IanJamesPoulter/statuses/366338335003770882)
We should be allowed to take 10'000 volt tazers onto the course and tazer ever muppet who shouts out something stupid. I would laugh then.

This baba boo shit & mash potato crap shouting wouldn't happen at Augusta, The Open, nor would it happen at Wimbledon. Tazer the thrushes.
— Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) August 11, 2013 (https://twitter.com/IanJamesPoulter/statuses/366639563537526784)That last one was popular enough for this to happen.

RT @HowardStern (https://twitter.com/HowardStern) it's spelled Baba Booey >> How have you only just got more followers than me. I thought you was big time. Hahahaha
— Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) August 11, 2013 (https://twitter.com/IanJamesPoulter/statuses/366662546041737216)Follower check: As of this writing, Poulter is at 1.528 million, and Stern at 1.469. The man with the loud pants is improbably one up on the King Of All Media.

I heard that last week when Stenson teed off at Bridgestone, and i wanted to just fucking rip the guy to shreds. I really hope i can go to an event soon and yell "SHUT THE FUCK UP" after someone does it. I bet i'd get a standing O.

And yeah, you're right, it's all Tiger's fault. He definitely always encourages the mashed potato yelling and never gives anyone really cold death stares after they do it. It definitely isn't on the course marshals and PGA officials to keep this crap out of the events.

Thats exactly what it is. They think that they are being funny and cute, but none of what they say is original and they are literally acting like some 12 yr old who just can't control themselves and have no manners. The PGA/USGA could definitely fix this with a strict policy where they kick people out of the event and don't refund the ticket prices for being twats, but they're more concerned with making players MORE nervous by putting them on the clock and handing out penalty strokes for slow play.

^just like the upcoming anchored putter ban. I think most agree that every guy should be doing it the same basic way, and that the anchored putter is just not real putting, but the time to ban it was when it first appeared, not now when there are guys that have been using it their whole careers just because a few long putters won some majors.
