View Full Version : Name the best job you've ever had

Well it's clear that there are some shitty jobs out there, and half of The Club has worked them. What about the best jobs you've had?

Being only a couple years out of college, I wouldn't say my first big boy job has been the best job; hopefully once I fully get into financial planning, and get my own office, I can say that'll be the best. Looking back at jobs I've had up until now, I'd have to say my best was the best because it was fun. I worked for Papa Noel every year of High School with a group of friends. Even though it was only seasonal, the tips were awesome and we usually just hung out and got drunk on the lot afterwards.

Best job(not pay wise) was easily starbucks cause its easy and all I worked with was girls, with a bunch of pretty girl costumers coming. Not to mention I like all the stuff starbucks sells. I was 19 overseas visiting my dad. I'd go out and party till 4am, come home and get ready to be at work by 6am. Make myself a caramel macchiato and eat a scone and my buzz was gone. Chill place.

Finish Line. I was fresh out of High School and they offered me the Assistant manager spot right away even though it was my first job. I was 17 with an apt, paid off car and very minimal bills. Plus I worked a ton of hours and got tons of OT. My apt was the spot and I had a lot of extra cash for food and drinks.
So because of that job it was all the new kicks, drank, a spot of my own to chill at, meeting tons of girls at the mall. Life was nice.
I wouldn't want that now but as a 17-19 year old kid I had it made.

I've only been employed once and that was a shitty job. Writing is my "job" now (or it's not a job, just a habit something because I don't get paid) and I really enjoy it. When I'm writing something it feels like I'm going on a mental journey, without any limitation of time or space, heading towards the destination that I desire most. The best job for one, imho, should be one that he/she really enjoys, like acting for my goddess. My goddess told her mom when she was only 3 that she had a little fire in her brain to act, acting has always been a passion of hers. It's really a delightful story that she followed her nature, exploited her talents and got finely rewarded.

Most of us won't ever reach her height in terms of the money we get, but at least we can choose something that we enjoy doing imho.

Her name was Keisha Harvey it happened in break room at Barnes and Noble...the time I was real young and thought she was nasty because she was dropping spit and just slurping all over the place..I've since come to appreciate that type of work...

managing a hostel. free room, food, board and all the international women you can handle. i only had to be at the desk making bookings and balancing the register a few hours a day then the rest i had off to chill with all of the guests. after i closed down the place at night, i would take everyone out to the pubs.

I've liked all the adult jobs I have had. Mentally stimulating, financially rewarding. Freedom to control my own destiny.

The best job I ever had in college was selling womens shoes at a high end store. I wasn't interested in the job until the manager told me I would make good money AND get laid by a bunch of horny female customers of all ages. It was my first commission job and I made the same money I did bartending, but I didn't have to work until 3AM and put up with a bunch of drunks. Plus I got laid like a king by customers and co-workers as well.

My first job in high school. I worked traffic at a classic rock radio station, and I got paid peanuts, but it was lots of fun. I only worked a couple of hours a day, I made schedules, answered phones, and did any voiceovers that required someone who could sound like an airhead (hmmm....). But I got tickets to every show, met tons of rock stars who came in for interviews, and got to go to some real great parties, both very low- and very high brow.

When I was 19 I worked for a few months at a big Goodwill. It was a shitty retail job the same as all shitty retail jobs, so the work itself wasn't terribly rewarding, but I worked with a fairly fun group of people (other annoying teenagers like I was at the time) and, best of all, I had an employee discount at a thrift store and first dibs on all the coolest stuff.

Then you would be ASSuming incorrectly. I didn't live here in SA. I lived in Temple and the cost of living was WAY cheaper than here in SA at that time. My apt was $325 a month for a big 1 bedroom. I had voicestream wireless for $35 a month and my utilities were like $20 a month. Add that with only liability on my old Caddy and I was paying about $415-$430 a month.

Correct, it was NOT salary so I did get OT. I was pulling in over $2000 a month with only $500 a month at most for bills. So $1500 a month of pocket change for a 17-19 yr old kid... I had it made. I was rich BIYATCH!

My most fun job was the first job I ever had, at Office Depot. Worked with a bunch of stoners, and would just play pranks on each other all day long, or try to make boomerangs and throw them back and forth across the store.

Working security job for a construction company while going through college. Worked Monday and tuesday from 2 to 10 and Saturdays and sundays from 6amto6pm and get Wednesday, Thursday and friday off. Not a bad gig. I got to do my papers, homework, bs around on my laptop, watch porn, drink a beer and all this while at work. Weekends would be the shit cause no one would be there so I would call my chick and bang in the business building. If I stayed up too late and needed to catch up on my sleep I would just go into this room and crash out for about thirty minutes, get out and patrol for 10-15 minutes and go back to crashing out. Cake ass job. Got to watch Spurs games and nfl games in their conference room. Also, sneaked into their frig and ate some of their food lol.

I used to work in a cubicle doing code all day. The job sucked but I enjoyed my coworkers. One was the crazy Middle Eastern guy who could never get the copier to work and he would go nuts and start kicking and hitting it. Also had another good friend who helped us scam over a hundred thousand dollars by putting a virus in the computer system. It was fun times. Too bad the place burned down.

Work in a call center for a mortgage loan business.

It was only temporal and PT, but $10/hour at the time. Plus our goal for the day was to make 160 calls to individuals which was really about 2 hours of work.

Working as a busboy. My friend was the bartender and I'd drink stuff he concocted all night, and the place was so big that the manger at night had no idea I was working in the back area only so I got paid house tips from both areas (you're only supposed to get one), two envelopes with the same amount of money basically. Then the arcade manager gave me a 20lb bag of tokens and I spent some of my free time there as well. So I was making good money, getting drunk at work, getting free arcade access and meeting NBA players, singers and actors. Not a bad gig. Too bad they went bankrupt (gee how did that happen?)

that was before you got your doctorate's in biology (or something similar) though. Being a private contractor doesn't count as a "job" imho, no matter how much $ you rake home per month, per day or maybe per hour.
