Texas really needs to have a new interpretive campaign. there are so many false stereotypes about Texans around the world, particularly our accents and the landscape.

"the landscape."
... one the worst aspects of TX.
east and n/e TX have some life and interest, but the rest is mostly semi-desert, flat, barren, waterless, no trees or runt trees, brush, featureless.

boutons, i'm one of your biggest fans from an entertainment perspective, but you went full retard here. only 10% of TX is considered desert, and there are enough streams and rivers to circumnavigate the globe three times - without taking into account the edwards aquifer.
as for featureless....lol
big bend is one of the most beautiful national parks in the US, yet it is the least visited. it's asshats like you who've never been to those places who spread stereotypes that simply aren't true, and that hampers tourism and affects you in the long run.
guadalupe mtn range, the Hill Country (enchanted rock, hamilton pool, barton springs, etc etc), the gulf coast. so much shit you can't even wrap your head around it. clearly you've never been out of your mom's basement.

I have lived in 6 different states and when it comes to quality of life and cost of living, its not even close. I will take Texas every day.

Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst calls 911 to pressure police to release jailed relative
Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) reportedly called 911 when a relative was in jail and tried to use his influence to convince officials to release her. According to CBS Dallas-Ft. Worth, Dewhurst made the call on August 3, four hours after his niece was arrested for shoplifting at an Allen, TX Kroger grocery store.
“This is David Dewhurst, the Lieutenant Governor of the State of Texas, and I want to talk to your senior officer who is there at your department right now,” Dewhurst said at the beginning of the call.
When the Republican got a police sergeant on the phone, he proceeded to insist that his niece, Ellen Bevers, is “the sweetest person in the world,” and that she should be released as quickly as possible.
“What I would like to do is if you would explain to me, sergeant, what I would need to do to arrange for getting her out of jail this evening,” he said. “You can proceed with whatever you think is proper.”
Allen police say they handled the case just as they would any other case of a relative calling about an inmate. The sergeant on duty explained that Bevers was charged with a Class B misdemeanor and would be transferred to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office for arraignment.
Dewhurst asked for the county judge’s phone number, but the officer would not give it to him.
“What do I need to do to not circumvent anything, follow the law, because this is ridiculous,” Dewhurst insisted.

I've lived in two countries and 13 different states. All of them have nice things about them and all of them have shitty things about them. Nothing particularly wrong with Texas in my opinion, but nothing great either. One problem though is that it's full of Texans.
However, I will take Texas any day of the week compared to Minnesota, Ohio, North Dakota. Those three were the worst places I've lived (in no particular order).
My two favorites are easily Colorado and Idaho. I'd be hard pressed to have to pick between those two.

TX is mostly one ugly, semi-desert, featureless wasteland
Drive SA to Port Aransas, zilch
drive SA to Brownsville, zilch
drive SA to Laredo, zilch
drive SA to midland-odessa, zilch
the panhandle is a moonscape
the coast from Brownsville to Sabine Pass, featureless, way too hot, sticky, course sand, and ugly brown surf that's way too warm to be refreshing most months.
the TX western half is zilch
Hill Country? stunted runt oaks, cedar, juniper, caleche, with a handful of Cypress along the "rivers" that non-Texans would call creeks.
Forests with TALL trees? only in East TX
natural lakes (there's only one and that's arguable)?
wanna see some mountains? gotta drive for a day, 400+ miles from SA to Big Bend
