View Full Version : Cuban says Blair playing spurs will be a beautiful thing

DeJuan Blair has circled the Dallas Mavericks' matchup against his old team, the San Antonio Spurs, next season, and Mark Cuban senses determination in his new forward.

“DeJuan already knows when we’re playing the Spurs,” Cuban said. “We already know what DeJuan is going to do to the Spurs. It’s going to be a beautiful thing.”

Blair was adamant recently that he believes the Spurs would have won the NBA championship last season had he played in the Finals against the Miami Heat.

The Mavericks expected Blair to provide a strong inside presence.

“DeJuan was a really important acquisition for us because Elton Brand didn’t return,” Rick Carlisle said. “We need that physical (butt)-kicker to put out there and be an enforcer for us.”

IN Dallas, he'll have to avoid not only Whataburger, but In-n-Out too... Dude's gonna put on 25lbs this season...

Cuban is a smart man, so he knows how to press the right buttons. Obviously, he knows Blair is a scrub, but he's not going come out and say "Yep, it's true, Blair is an fat and undersized 'hustle' player who hasn't hustled since 2011 and he's only here to fill a roster spot." On the contrary Cuban says exactly what Blair wants to hear: that Blair's going to beat the shit out of the team that figured out he sucked and wouldn't let him play.

Replacement for Elton Brand? Are they joking? He is a good 2 inches shorter... at least and hasn't blocked a shot in his life much less scored like Brand did throughout his career. No way he avg a block a game like Brand did with Dallas... Delusional...

What will be quite a riot is if Bonner or Baynes outplays the ol sport to the point that Jim Carrey has to bench him. Then we can all be entertained by Dejuan Blair stating "we would've won if I had played more" following the game.

If he had resigned with the Spurs he'd have to avoid the same thing. In New Braunfels, In-N-Out is going up right NEXT to a Whataburger.

Leon Valley, Alamo Ranch and The Rim are also getting locations in 2014.

Elton was a 20 and 10 and 2 bpg player before injuries. But even after injuries he was still a very good defensive player.

Why is Cuban talking about this silly shit instead of what they're planning to do in the playoffs?

Oh wait. :lmao

:lmao Blair will put up 20 and 10 in a loss.

Blair isn't scoring 20 unless at least 14 of it comes with Duncan on the bench, with 6-8 of it coming in garbage time when they're already down 20.

Duncan will block almost every single shot Blair takes on him unless it's on a cut. Watch.

I think Blair is gonna try too hard to make an impact against us and hurt himself. Might as well let Baynes shut him down.. Blair doesn't deserve to get blocked repeatedly by Timmy.

Wish Blair the best. He is a limited player with no ACLs and the fact that he has survived in the NBA so far is good for him. He was a liability for the Spurs; hopefully he will contribute to the Mavs as they miss the playoffs again this season.

Cuban has built a large part of the Mavs identity around the Spurs as the bad guys. The spurs get mentioned is timeout jingles and animated bits throughout the game. It's good stuff, he's a smart man

I bet there are many big men in the nba salivating at the thought of going up against mr Blair. Imagine him trying to defend Tiago on the PnR or try stop Timmy hitting 20 bank shots.

Good luck to Blair. I don't wish him ill will but I am glad he's off the team.

We saw what a motivated Blair can do his rookie season when he wanted to prove all the teams that passed on him how wrong they were. No doubt he's going to be motivated to play the Spurs because he feels slighted by Pop for not getting playing time.

But we also saw what happens when he doesn't get his way. Overweight and emo tweets. Contract year rolls around and he gets in probably the best shape of his career. I hate when players do that.

So maybe he'll have a banner year or maybe it'll be another ho hum season. I don't really care. The important thing is he's no longer on the Spurs and they can move forward with other players.

Blair's one of those guys who gets up for a single matchup for personal reasons, and then coasts the rest of the time. That's why he's not on the team anymore. The Mavs might actually win one of the games against the Spurs this year thanks to Blair playing with passion that one time. The Mavs can have their parade the next day.

Diaw rebounds moderately well for a back-up tweener forward, at 3.4 per game last year. For a back-up center Blair's 3.8 per game isn't that awesome either.

DPG i agree theres no need to bash former Spurs when it isnt warranted. But DeJuan has been a whiny bitch ever since Pop realised he had no chance of ever developing a jump shot or any brains for that matter, and rightly removed him from the rotation.

He openly pouted numerous times on twitter and in the media during his time with the team, not to mention after being traded.

Besides i think the Mavs are going to be in for a rude surprise with Blair. No lift anymore, no jumpshot, or any real basketball skills besides a nose for the ball, 6'5", and one of the dumbest players in the league. He will be out of the league in two years imo.

Blair posted the 2nd-lowest average of his career in points and rebounds on fewer minutes per game than in all but one of his seasons as a Spur. Not quite the career renaissance Cuban was anticipating, apparently.

........ Must have been the most sexy 7 points and 6 rebounds in the world, according to Cuban.
