Avantes and Gentlemen,

Welcome to our inaugural Official SpursTalk Money League. I realize there were money leagues in the past that were run by the the site's administrators, but this is the first money league run by us, the posters who have slowly built the NFL Forum into what it has become over the past six football seasons. Which is, in my opinion, the last frontier of SpursTalk. Starting with the 2008 Season, we began playing free fantasy games against each other for bragging rights or whatever else you want to call it. Fantasy discussions have always been a part of what has gone on inside these walls, and it was only natural that the free leagues would eventually manifest. In the past five years, SpursTalk has opened itself to lots of side-betting which made myself and others push for a money league this season. After much careful deliberation and coordination, we have set up a league, established our rules, settings, entry fees, prize amounts and are ready to go.

This is a 12-team, Head-to-Head league with a $25 dollar buy in. The players are as follows:

After 14 weeks of head-to-head action, four teams will advance to the postseason for a two-week playoff. The prizes will break down as follows:

Super Bowl Champion (1st Place): $175 & a http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/icons/blackaward.gif (sponsored by Kori)
Super Bowl Runner-up (2nd Place): $75
Loser Bowl Champion (3rd Place): $50

Our draft will be on Thursday evening at 10:30PM EST. In the meantime, players are encouraged to post in this thread declaring their team name. Following the draft, you can post your roster for posters not in the league to see if you like. You can use this thread to trash talk your opponent for the current week, notify other players of trades, laugh at someone for getting blown out or just discuss the fantasy season in general. Of course, if you are not in our league and want to comment on anything please feel free to do so.

Thanks everyone for their input, their patience and their cooperation in getting everything set up. It took a while but that's almost exclusively because I want to be a good commissioner and give everyone a chance to make their voice heard. Should be a good season. Let the games begin.

Not the same 12. Sometimes we did leagues with less players. Last year we did 14 which was pure hell and the reason we capped at a max of 12 for this league. Eight players in this league have played in a ST free league before, so there is that element of familiarity.

I was very vocal against the 14 man league last year. We let two people in at the eleventh hour to go from 12 to 14. I wasn't the commissioner last year though. That's about the only thing I put my foot down on.

Mentioned this in draft chat but I got another draft coming up on Sunday that ain't even mine. Friend of mine has invited his gf to play in their league. She has never played fantasy and doesn't really watch football, but they're doing a public live draft at a bar where everyone brings their laptop and writes their picks on the white board. He thinks it's a bad idea to help her draft in front of all the other players, which is probably a good call.

RG3 has the better matchup but will probably have a rusty first game imo, I'd go with Kaep. He had an elite game the last time they played Green Bay.

They must score exactly like we do but do fractional points. We don't do that. That's 1 pt per 25 yards, 6 for pass TD and the 3pt/4pt bonuses at 300yards/400yards.

yessir, that was my main inspiration for all the scoring changes last year. You basically get credited everytime your guy touches the ball (i.e. Fred Jackson getting 1.8 pts for 18 rushing yards). More scoring makes it more exciting imho

Should be much better than last year even though every analyst in the world is quick to point out that the 2012 Colts were the first 11-5 team to have a negative point differential. Lot of new players, kind of unfair to even compare them to last year's team imo. For the first time in ages, I'd say the pass rush is the weakest aspect of the Colts D. They'll get pressure but not sacks, unless the team held back the playbook a lot in preseason or something. Secondary is pretty stout if everyone stays healthy, and they are all healthy to start the season thank god.

I like them a lot against the Raiders. They shut down the Browns starting offense in the 3rd preseason game (only allowed 1 FG in three quarters), which isn't a top shelf offense but has better QB play than Oakland and comparable play at RB with Richardson. If your regular fantasy D is going up against a team that can put up points this weekend I think Indy could be a very good sub. Next week too, they got Miami at home.

It's a lot easier to collect when you fill a league up well before your draft and can institute a hard line no pay, no draft policy. Unfortunately we had trouble filling the league and couldn't do it that way. I'm pretty sure no one in this league is going to go dead beat though. If they do their team will be disqualified from postseason competition regardless of record so if I were them I'd just pay :lol

Pretty similar to my team except I have worse top 2 RB's but better depth. I'm in a PPR league as well and I have AJ Green/Dez/Bowe as my top 3 and my RB's are Lamar Miller/Jocquie Bell/Ben Tate/Giovani Bernard. I also have Greg Jennings, Kenbrell and Percy Harvin on my bench from a WR standpoint.

The worst imo is when it's the same people every year and there are the few people who never vote on anything and need to be reminded 5 times to sign up. Then when it's time to decide when to draft, 2-3 people never say anything so we figure the time works for them, I set that as the draft time, then 3 days before the draft someone who didn't give any input on what times work randomly posts, "HEY WHAT THE FUCK I'M BUSY THAT DAY!!!!" :lol

Similarly, the way we'd do trades was I decided on all trades not involving me but someone is voted on to approve my trades, while a backup is voted on to approve any trades between me and the other person. They'd never vote on who it was that decided on my trades, then they'd randomly chime in when they saw a trade of mine go through without bothering to check anything, "HEY THAT'S BULLSHIT WHY DO YOU GET TO APPROVE YOUR OWN TRADES!!!"
