View Full Version : How much does Devin Brown have left in the tank? (Possible sf/sg backup)

As the title says, how much does Devin Brown have left in the tank? I mean he's only 34 years old... his athleticism couldn't have left him that quickly. Also, he's from San Antonio too (kind of like Derrick Rose). I think he would be a great pick up for us. He's a solid all-around player that can hit the three ball. Plus, he's veteran with a ton of playoff experience (including NBA finals experience). Do you guys remember how short our bench was last year because everyone was so inexperience? Besides, the big three (Green and Kwahi)... no one else showed up, so our starters never got any blow.

EDIT: Obviously, the Josh Smiths of the world are already signed, but it doesn't matter. We need key bench players... for the love of God, can just have one bench player that WONT GO MIA in the playoffs? Our starters need to rest, and the front office gave away the only guy on our bench that had any balls (Gary Neal). Actually, he reminds me a lot of Gary Neal.

34 is very old for a wing player who hung his hat on his athleticism and hops. He's also like 6'5", undersized for the position.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: NO. MORE. OLD. FUCKS. Especially when they're career scrubs.

LMAO Devin Brown. Do some emo Spurs fans really think we are in such a state of emergency that we should consider trash like this?

Tell me exactly who on our bench will step up during playoff time? Cojo, Nando, Tiago, and all of them went MIA... in MIA. We need players with some balls and won't shrink under the spot light. Why not pick up a solid defender/scorer to provide some depth at the sf/sg position? He has playoff experience.

When did Devin prove he would step up in the playoffs and handle the spotlight? I still remember his play when he tripped and fell and handed T Mac that ball to complete the damn 13 in 35 seconds, basically gift wrapped that feat lol. Thats the last I remember of him here. In the 05 title run how much did he play? I am betting very minimal to say the least, hardly remember him later that year in the playoff run. Once again he has playoff experience from the bench. He is older than T Mac too, think about that.

Serious question. What happened to Devin? Last 2004 he seems serviceable and then on 2005, he was on the bench.

He was actually decent in 05, then he got injured. Hence, the sitting on the bench and the signing of Big dog Robinson as insurance.

I see. he got injured. I was really a fan of him last 2004 considering he's still a rookie that time. Like Neal. Oh well atleast he got a ring last 2005.

:lol only on ST do we pick on a random regular season game inwhich we went on to win the title....im sure there are worst things that have happened, like having no bench and guys would have balls and can create their own shots... hmmmm yall would rather we have some miracle comeback, followed by a miracioulous shot to win an important game... oh wait

Yup, I remember a lot of people were actually high on him at that point. Not sure about ST though, since I didn't get here until 2010 and by then DB was already on the downside. IIRC it was a herniated disc that sidelined him but I'm not sure though. Then he got traded the following season to Utah. And I remember reading a Spurs related article poking fun at him after his introductory presscon at Utah, because he said he was gonna bring a winning attitude to the team and apparently his work ethic the previous year wasn't very good, something like being late for practices and stuff. But, that's just my recollection of things, I could be wrong. I'm definitely lazy enough to not look for proof. :rollin

Go away you idiot, he is older now and nobody wants him back on this damn team, period sir. What did he do in the 05 playoffs I will bring up AGAIN??????? What run did he give us in a title run? I can't think of one moment, okay.

it takes at least 1 full year to learn the spurs system... see parker, tiago, and ginobili (same with danny green), the only exception was kawhi and duncan, but even kawhi stepped up big in the playoffs with his hustle, rebounds, and steals

Okay give me Devin Brown then in 05 again I will take him! You said he had playoff experience sir, but would that not mean he had to have some good games in the playoffs to actually contribute? He has had how many he did contribute then? In 04 I thought he would be good and in the future have some game, he was a huge part of that 04 comeback against LA in that game 5 before .4, then boom.......... He showed alot of potential then but the next year not much and then after not much on other teams even. What playoff experience does he actually have?

Gotta agree with Sean Cagney on this one. As far as I remember, he wasn't on a playoff team where he was a contributor. And those teams were most probably 1st round fodder at best (don't ask for proof, too lazy to look up). He MIGHT have become a key contributor on that 05 team, but he never really got to do anything since he missed some time due to injury.

The Spurs must add a legit NBA player for the role because it's increasingly important to have a good SF rotation.

He's playing softball at Time Warner Park. My daughter hit one over his head and he was getting it from his teammates. They posed for a picture after the game...real nice guy, but I doubt he has the stamina for the NBA anymore...few do.
